. >> john, in florida the proud boys leader joseph biggs being charged.'s telling his friends on parler to blend in. the fbi believes he wore an earpiece and had a walkie-talkie device. what do you know about him? >> you see that discussion of the walk can i talk kiss and the earpiece throughout that affidavit. he's interesting. he does a group picture and then later he makes an entrance. that shows up in the affidavit too. he's not wearing the traditional proud boys colors but he has a walkie-talkie. he looks at the camera and said this is awesome. now he told a british tabloid recently he was just there to visit the restroom but i think we'll see about that. it's pretty clear the fbi is looking at the fact that the proud boys who were there were wearing earpieces and communications gear as a way to show they were probably in communication. that's not something you do for a normal protest or walk in the park. >> phil, he said he was there to use the restroom or maybe he was sort of ushered in or pushed in with the crowd. if you hear him giving orders or

this was before john mccain died. and mr. biggsnothing and afterwards a reporter asked him why he didn't speak out and condemn this call for a hanging of the senator from the state and he said he didn't feel like it was his place to object to that. so, you see -- and frankly, there are even more members of congress on the far right in the house who have spoken at oath keeper events and three percenter events. after this article came out, we've received more emails from different people around the country who have said, well, my congressman's been associating with these groups as well. and so, i think that, especially when we look at the people in the house who really led the effort to undermine the election and spread this lie of that -- that the election was stolen, that is a fertile ground there for playing in this conspiracy theory world and this world of extremists. that's really infecting the gop right now, especially in the house. >> luke, stay with us. john heilemann, i think that this reporting takes on added significance i

congressman andy biggs spoke at an event where the founder of the oath keepers called for the hanging of senator john mccain. he's also been linked to the stop the steal campaign, which he denies. >> we'll just add to that, the "times" reporting colorado congresswoman lauren boebert has close ties to the three percenters, that group we just mentioned. her communications director says she did not support the storming of the capitol. and then we have florida representative matt gaetz reportedly appeared at an event last year, attended by members of the proud boys. he suggests he does not support their viewpoint. but mustafa, how does the republican party even begin to address this? >> well, they have to address it head on. that's not what we're seeing from leader mccarthy. he's not even acknowledging. he started the first day after the riot basically saying president trump was wrong, he should not have done this, and then the next day, you know, week later comes out with a statement just taking that back. and then just this last week, we see a picture of him standing next to president trump. this -- yo

like congressman andy biggs and paul gosar of arizona and kevin brady of texas and house minority leader kevin mccarthy and senators ted cruz and josh hawley and rick scott and johnennedy, every last one of them up to and including the president and the people around him have engaged in the same plot in the open to seize power for the man who lost. the man that was repudiated by american voters and american democracy. and for all the talk about 1776 and the don't tread on me gadsden flags, it is those folks who are on the side of tyranny. they're on the side of a would-be crown. they're on the side of might over people power. they wanted to seize power from you, from us as democratic citizens. they wanted a small group of congressmen to take it away. that is what the republican party is now associated itself with or in large part has become. now this country has been through trauma and disaster and war and civil war. and we have wrestled with treason and sedition and those who would seek to destroy american democracy, especially genuinely equitable multiracial american democracy. we fought those battles. the threat posed by these people, frankly, is as serious as
