now, his lawyer is responding this afternoon, let me bring in cnn's jessica schneider to talk more about this. walk us through, jessica, what we've learned about this man, the threats and the charges he now faces. >> ana, this suspect has an extensive social media trail and that's what prosecutors have been tracking. and because of that, he's accused not only of posting death threats against aoc but threats against a capitol police officer. prosecutors say it's garrett miller of texas and when they looked at his social media, they saw he tweeted, quote, assassinate aoc and he also said that the police officer who fatally shot that female trump supporter inside the capitol on january 6th, said, quote, that the officer deserves to die and won't survive long because it's, quote, hunting season. now, officials say miller did participate in this capitol attack and then went on this online rant saying in one post, next time, we bring guns. so at this point, garrett miller is facing five federal criminal charges including for his participation in the attack and of course, those death threats. m

cnn's justice correspondent jessica schneider is following this. what more can you tell us, jess? >> reporter: brianna, since this happened on january 6th, the fbi has been releasing more and more information. they're now saying the bombs were placed near both of those headquarters, dnc and rnc, between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. on january 5th, the night before the capitol attack. authorities have been hunting for whoever placed these pipe bombs now for more than three weeks. today is the third time they've increased their award for tips leading to any arrest. it is now $100,000. this really speaks to how much difficulty the feds are having tracking this perpetrator you can see in this picture. this is the picture that has been released from the fbi. and now the fbi releasing a bit more detail about the picture itself. they're saying the suspect is wearing a light sweatshirt, their face and head mostly covered. as you can see there, that is surveillance video that was obtained by the "washington post." it shows that suspect actually walking in a residential area right near the capitol an

jessica schneider has more from washington. >> reporter: laura and christine, the acting chief for thethere are major missteps and the department was not prepared. yogananda pittman was recent ly to acting chief. she admits that the lockdown of the capitol may not have been implemented properly. radio communication was hard to hear and the p.a. system to alert members of congress about what was happening also may not have been clear enough. so pittman gave a statements to the appropriations committee and she spelled out the threat in advance. saying this, we knew that white militia groups and white screamist groups would be attending we also new that some of these participants were intending to bring firearms to the event. we knew that there was a strong potential for violence and congress was the target. we did not do enough. this is what speaks to previously that many officers of the police felt abandoned by the leadership. the acting chief of course now admitting there were many failures. but we've also learned that capitol police officers are discussing holding a no confidence vote
