that's been true since i started working in sfusd in 1996. this unique to sfusd.us underserving black students, many immigrants, students with disabilities, latinx, p. as one spanish-speaking mom said to me, we have a promise of equity and we need to keep the promise. as we think about reopening in person, as soon as we safely can, we also need to be thinking about what changes we need to make, how we can reimagine and really reenvision our public schools. and one key area we definitely need to address is resources. sfusd spends half per student per year what new york spends. a third of what our private schools spend. here in the wealthiest cities in the world, are we willing to spend our public schools to match the high expectations that we put on them, right. so the expectations should be high. and we need to keep them high and match them with adequate resources. also within the district, we need to make sure that we're allocating our resources properly. there's good folks working there, but a communication gap between the families. we're going to trust our teac

i am a san francisco resident and a parent of a sfusd second grader and an artist and a president of the adjunct faculty meeting. we are here because philanthropists failed to follow through on the $19 million for the expangz. they gambled on a loan, and the livelihoods of its community members. their failure to follow through on this promise for our students and faculty, they were forced to shoulder the burden. now they want to remove and sell a landmark work of art to compensate for their shortfall. this needs to be stopped and the site must be protected from their negligence. students who have high loans and faculty have had staggering salaries and the part-time positions year after year. and the residents had (indiscernible) has been a loss for san francisco's art community. we have multimillion dollar hole in an institution of learning. gutting the community that has helped to been around for 150 years. and someone should really investigate that. they laid off 300 students and staff and now the removal and sale of this monumental work of art. the mural is a testament to the purp

i'm speaking with relation to the $2 million gift, and sfusd would really like to thank and appreciate alexandria real estate for the future contribution to mission bay schools. the mission bay school was part of the original redevelopment plan of mission bay, and an elementary school is part of a complete neighborhood, and all the housing development would be contributing to a lot of enrollment growth, and so that's why we are planning for a 500-student elementary student and -- across the street from the proposed development. so again, we're really excited about this endowment for the campus and the alignment around science and innovation. we're looking forward to partnering and appreciate the fact that we're going to have such a wonderful neighbor in mission bay, so thank you again to supervisor haney for your leadership, and alexandria for the commitment of this generous gift, and that concludes my public comment. >> clerk: thank you for your comments. okay. we have three callers in the queue. operations, let's hear from the next caller, please. welcome, caller.
