congressman emmanuel cleburne joins us now. thank you very much. >> good to be with you.utely. i want to start in waxahachie, a tinny town where you were born, you family lived in a slave chanty, slaves were housed in the 1800s and you led your first protest when you were 15 year's old. what were you protesting and how did you get involved? >> well, i had begun like many people watching martin luther king and the civil rights legend, and -- and the little hometown where i lived african americans were not allowed to go to the movie theaters and when we saw that being protested i organized about 50 dumb kids all of whom were in junior high school or about that age and they followed me downtown we talked to our movie theater and put our 50 cents in front of the clerk and she, of course, said no. by the time i graduated high school and college, we couldn't go to the theater. in the late 1960's, the movie theaters were opened. at one point african-americans could have been in balcony. i look back at it now, how dumb it was for me to bring the other kids along with me because w

members of the financial services committee, including representatives vargas, axne, presley, scott, cleburne, green. i support the committee's efforts to advance this bill to provide much needed relief to medical personnel, struggling renters and homeowners and people experiencing homesness, struggling small businesses and airline workers. nearly 1 in 5 renters are behind on paying their rent and collectively renters owe over $57 billion in unpaid rent, utilities and fees. the pandemic as worsened the housing insecurity as homeowners and renters struggle to stay afloat. many small businesses have closed their doors and many more are at risk of closure. and with limited travel, airline workers also remain at high risk of layoffs. the american rescue plan will support each of our communities with especially resources to revitalize the economy, defeat the virus and help working families make ends meet. under my committee's jurisdiction, the bill would help medical personnel by providing $10 billion to boost production of emergency medical equipment. the bill would have renters by providing $26.

offered by the state department of health and the second thing is transportation to those places cleburne south of here and many times patients are charged $25 for a one-way trip and there's not a single traffic light between there and here and so that's a big impediment. >> reporter: we did an analysis of the 10 counties where people are least likely to have a vehicle at their residents only half of those have vaccine sites in order for folks to get vaccinated the ceo said he would like to stand up mobile sites and get to some of those hard-to-reach communities, but the problem is he doesn't have enough of the vaccine. and what the states announced today is that those additional doses that they are going to be receiving from the biden administration are not going to go to those mass state-run sites, they're going to community clinics like this one to help shore up the disparities. shep >> priscilla thompson live tonight on the mississippi delta. >>> he was with his granddaughter when she fell 11 stories from the window of a cruise ship. charged with negligent homicide, he pleaded guilty.
