spencer christian is here with the forecast and a look at what we can expect the next few days, spencern and ama, it was unbelievably warm for february 23rd around the bay area today. here is a look at some of our high temperature, including six new record highs for this date. 81 in santa rosa. 79 in kentfield. 79 in san jose. 78 at redwood city and 80 at oakland. it was a warm day around the bayer. these are the forecast features. it will be clear overnight. we started developing gusty winds already. winds increase tomorrow. it will be mainly sunny and dry through a remainder of the weekend and into the weekend. we have a wind advisory in effect from 10:00 tomorrow morning, 10:00 tomorrow night. the winds will be especially gusty up in the hills, 40 to 50, even 60 miles per hour gusts at times. could knock down some trees and power lines. so bear in mind. here is a quick look at the accuweather seven-day forecast. as i said a moment ago, sunny skies will prevail all the way through the seven-day period. and it's going to be fairly mild. we'll see maybe a little bit of cooling next week

let's put some of that weather technology to use now, ama. >> spencer christian is here with the latests indeed. sunny days are on the way as well. let's take a look at what's happening right now. current conditions, clear skies around the bay area. temperature readings have dropped a bit in the last hour or so, mainly in the mid-50s around the bay shoreline. still 60 degrees in inland areas and down to 50 on the coast. and as you look out over the bay from the east bay hills cameras clear skies overnight. another sunny and mild day tomorrow and gusty winds will return on saturday. during the overnight hours, it will be quite chilly in the inland valleys with low temperatures dropping into the mid- to upper 30s in many locations like santa rosa, napa, the inland east bay, right around the bay shoreline, lows to mid-40s. and tomorrow's highs under sunny skies will reach into the upper 60s in the south bay, on the peninsula we'll see highs in the mid-60s, about 64, 65 degrees at most location there's. only upper 50s on the coast. tomorrow downtown san francisco will top out at 62 degrees.

let's check in with spencer christian now to talk about the weather forecast. it was a little breezy. spencer? >> kristen, that's putting it mildly, isn't it? more han than a little breezy in some spots. here is the reason to that. looking at the satellite image, you can see the center of low pressure to our east. center of high pressure to the west. the strong pressure gradient between the two. you look at the combination of the clockwise flow around the high, the counterclockwise flow around the low, you can see that circulation pushing strongly the wind down into our area. so that's why it's windy. it's gusty right now in the hills for sure with gusts between 25 and almost 40 miles per hour across many of our higher elevations. and these are things you can do to stay safe in these windy conditions so you can secure outdoor possessions so they don't get damaged or blown away. avoid parking under trees or power lines and be cautious when crossing bridges. let's take a look at the blue sky. 62 degrees here in the city. low 70s in oakland, mountain view, san jos

let's get right to spencer christian with more on the rain. spencer? >> okay, kristen and larry. there and getting wetter by the moment. here is a look at live doppler 7. you can see a batch of concentrated moisture beginning to push onshore right around the golden gate right now moving into san francisco. that's the heaviest rain at the moment. we've got pretty steady rain over in the oakland area over in macarthur boulevard, johnson road, along highway 13 and i-580. the roadways are obviously wet and the evening commute is likely to be a slow and slippery one. this storm ranks 1 on the impact scale, and through tonight we expect more rain with brief downpours, gusty southerly winds, and of course a wet and slippery morning, even a commute. here is our forecast animation taking us into the evening hours. you can see the rain is going to continue to be pretty steady moving eastward and southward into the middle of the evening. but later tonight, we expect the rain to taper off a bit, and i'll give you a look beyond later tonight a little later. kristen? >> looking forward to that
