and this wonderful environmental portrait of a navajo that he took in 1929.so what about here in the east right where we are today? you've seen a lot of pictures of the west and we've explained that george spent most of his time in the west, but he did take some pictures here. one of the assignments he was asked to come east for was to photograph the dedication of the memorial house at george washington's birth place national monument in virginia. here is the photograph, the group portrait of the participants in that dedication in may of 1932. then another photograph of the home and the boxwood gardens that same day. those boxwood gardens have grown up quite a bit since 1932. we were there back in september. surprisingly enough in the parks service archives we were able to locate two photographs by george grant of shenandoah national park. i scratch my head, he's an hour or two away from it, why only two pictures? but these are two of the images. the top left is park superintendent james laster with george pollock, the owner of skyland. he took this picture i
