perhaps it's not going on now for my students but i'm old enough to experience, the women in the office need to wear dresses, he prefers that over pantsuits, that kind of thing. is this a contemporary 21st century civil rights issues think what you think it's something that's tied into ideas about workplace discrimination? >> i think it is. there is not great ways to address this because historically, the law said pacific dress codes are not either demeaning or equal burden. usually the employer has a dress code. moreover, the dress code doesn't mean it's what you're talking about, the boss is hard but i do think it is a problem for professional advancement and not taken seriously. what not to wear and on the one hand, it's one thing to have somebody tell an adult in the 20s how to dress but at the same time, there are contentions because the things women will confront in the legal profession, there is constant scrutiny of what to wear. as one example was someone said there's a judge had gone legally blind, they couldn't see in the courtroom but kirk told him what the women were wearing
