meet ultra marathon man dean karnazes. ♪ >> the longest i've run nonstop is 350 miles, and that was overhours of running -- 80 hours and 44 minutes. ♪ i've also run across the u.s. so i've run from los angeles to new york city, and that was 3,000 miles. that was 75 days, though, so that is the longest 75 days i've spent running. you know, people say, "during a race, have you ever had the desire to stop?" and i would say, "almost every single race." you know, if you don't have the desire to stop, then you're not pushing yourself hard enough. it's kind of having the mental fortitude to override what your body's saying, which is, "stop." so having the self-discipline and the sheer grunt work of just continuing to go is something you sometimes force yourself to do. ♪ this is a photo finishing the western states 100-mile endurance run, my 10th time, and you can see i have alexandria and nicholas next to me. so that was a pretty special moment. i have an espy award from espn, which is pretty nice. this is from the 2013 boston marathon, and that was the year of the bombing. and i had finished t
