100 colleges and universities that offer majors in home x or home economics education. say nothing of places around the rest of the world in finland and japan still required curriculum in many places. but what happened, yes, in this late 60s colleges, these were women's departments and as such they were really susceptible to men trying to kneecap the department. they started to change the name of the department in the hope of getting greater respect. this debate continued to rage for a couple of decades and in the early 90s the k-12 and ÃÃ k-12 side they change the name to family and consumer sciences. it's never really caught on. i've been covering education for four years, and never heard her family consumer sciences. i've heard of like edible schoolyard programs and culinary training programs. but i have not heard of, i had not heard anything of home i can ask. even the people i talked to work in the field today they say people say, what you do? i teach family consumer sciences. what's that? it used to be home i can ask. i understand why they wanted to increase the v
