and high school has a longer school day. length of the school day with the c.d.e.ructional minutes means they are in school longer. in addition, we wanted to support our high school students to have internships and many of them work after school and so that's why they are at 8:40, and the middle school at 9:30, and middle school at 9:30, all start at the same time, end at the same time, and that makes it possible for all the middle school teachers and schools to have cross school collaboration, and part of the redesign initiative wanting to make sure that every student, no matter which middle school they are enrolled in, they have the same opportunities and experiences. and there are the guidelines that were used by this process that we were developing. i'll take a minute now to talk about why it's changing. next slide, please. every school will start at 7:50, 8:40 and 9:30, and just to give insight why those times, and with traffic patterns and distance and commute patterns we know we need 50 minutes between each start time in order to be able to use the same and
