troops are stationary go past barbed wire where there's afghans hoping against hope they can get on onethose military flights. very quickly you are the taliban checkpoint. and that is the reality now in kabul. but what we've seen is that life is picking up again. when they took, the taliban took kabul, things were very quiet. shops were closed. the streets were empty. but we have been samaria and food marke were very busy. striking that most of the customers, most of the people on the streets were men in. very few women on the streets at all. we're told it is a very different scene then just last week. so, this is moving fast now. the other thing people are telling us here is that they are desperately worried about running out of money, because the banks have been close ever since the taliban rolled into town. and people are running out of cash. something to keep in eye on, on top of the security fears and all the other mayhem surrounding the airport and questions about the future of the country after the u.s. leaves. there is something of an economic crisis brewing here, too. >> cather

and so he told me to get closer to the gate and like there was barbed wire.ding. and like we had to help her get above those barbed wires. >> you finally did get through and -- >> yes. >> -- i know that whole process of, you know, flying out and then not knowing where you're going and staying in bunk beds, we had a lot of facilities, all of that was extremely taxing and difficult. the taliban now say they've closed the road to the airport for afghans. do you think the u.s. will be able to get all its citizens out and afghans who work for the u.s.? >> if they can try. i don't think it will be to the airport road. they're going to have to probably pick them up in helicopters or something because it was getting very bad. and from my understanding people are coming in every day to try and get past those gates. and those gates are so hard to get through. they might have to find a different way. >> when you finally did, when you finally did get back to the united states, how are you doing? what was that like? >> honestly, like i felt relieved but i still feel sadne

we've seen videos of babies being hefted over the barbed wire and walls and u.s. service members taking them on. what is going on? are these families of babies that have see is as of u.s. passports? are they afghans? people with credentials? >> the video you're talking about, the parent asked the marines to look after the baby because the baby was ill. so the marine you see reaching over the wall took it to a norwegian hospital at the airport. they treated the child and returned the child to the chill's father. >> was there one? >> one incident. it was an act of passion because there was concern about the baby. >> were they going to be brought in or outside the airport? >> i don't know. the baby was returned to the father. i don't know where they are now. obviously we have a responsibility to return the child to the child's parent. i don't know who the parent is and whether they're an siv applicant. i don't have that level of detail. it was a very human act of compassion by the marines. it's the skill and professionalism that the general talked about. >> i have a

many try to scale the walls topped with barbed wire. all civilian and military flights were then halted. the airport has been reopened. >> the u.s. has halted all of evacuation flights and what one u.s. official told me is that it has been a disaster of an evacuation. ever since president ghani got on the plane late sunday afternoon, these have been the scenes. thousands of people have overwhelmed the airport. have overwhelmed security and they have made their way onto the runway. they preach to the tarmac and the u.s. has been unable to secure it since. afghan civilians climbed onto the wing before the plane took off. in another video, we see what appears to be a person falling from a plane. the americans have been using apache helicopters to where the runway, to try to make space for their plans but they have since decided to halt these evacuation fights while they try to get the situation under control. they are using u.s. marines running through the parts or terminal. 6000 u.s. troops are here in kabul. that is more trips that have
