i am justin andrews.ou enter city buildings, if you work for san jose, you are required to prove you have been vaccinated. if you don't, you have to get tested weekly or have basically unpaid time off. this mandate comes as fda just gave full approval to pfizer vaccine 30 minutes ago. this affects more than 8,000 city employees in san jose from the mayor to police officers, firefighters, city hall workers, even dispatchers. under this rule all city employees including those still working from home will be required to show proof of the vaccination. again if you don't, you have to be tested weekly or have the unpaid time off. city leaders say the vaccine is the best most effective tool in preventing covid-19. obviously there is push back coming from some union workers saying they're fine with being vaccinated but are not okay with the mandate. another layer, the city is considering possibly moving forward in making this a requirement. so getting the vaccine and the option of testing will not be an option fo

justin andrews is live this morning. 24 hours ago the district rolled out a detailed new covid guidelines. >> reporter: if you don't feel well, the district says stay home. if any students get covid-19, there are some guidelines and requirements they must follow before they come back inside the school building. they must have a negative covid test result, a written clearance from their doctor, or complete a ten day quarantine. three days a week the district is offering covid testing to students, staff, and their families. the locations are on your screen. testing begins next week. right now testing is not required for students not showing symptoms of covid-19 but it is encouraged. as they welcome students back, they're welcoming 50 new employees. the other day the district had a hiring fair and there are still dozens teacher and staff openings. there is a $1,500 hiring bonus too so you can get extra cash with that. students, teachers, visitors if you happen to come inside the school building, you must have your mask. tha
