it infected the way he governored the state of new york. >> let me read for you a part of new york lieutenantthis statement in part saying "sexual harassment is unacceptable in any workplace and certainly not in public service. no one is above the law. the under the new york constitution, the assembly will will now determine the next steps." do you expect this to fuel support for impeachment proceedings in the state legislature? is that where this needs to go? >> i think the next reasonable step is to begin the impeachment proceedings. i called for the impeachment of this governor many months ago. i think today's findings give the assembly a significant amount of information and as a reminder for everyone, that doesn't mean that the governor is impeached. they will be delivered to the senate and there will be a trial that will be underway. i think that most important thing that we need to keep in mind is that if cuomo is not held accountable and the defense works, effectively what we're saying is that there are no standards against sexual harassment in the state of new york. that is something

in new york, jury selection in r. kelly's sex trafficking trial began monday, more than two years after he was charged with sexually abusing dozens of women and underage girls for nearly two decades. the singer faces multiple federal criminal charges including sexual exploitation of children, kidnapping and forced labor. cases against r. kelly have also been filed in illinois and minnesota. if convicted, he faces decades behind bars. in brooklyn, community organizers led a rally over the weekend urging the new york state public service commission not to hike the monthly gas bill for or a million state customers to pay for the controversial north brooklyn pipeline. the commission is expected to vote on the rate increase thursday. the national grid-owned pipeline would carry fracked gas through mostly black and brown neighborhoods in brooklyn, despite bans on fracking and new fossil fuel infrastructure in new york, as well as significant community opposition. activists rallied against the plans over the weekend. >> this

new york governor andrew cuomo has announced he is resigning. >> and i love new york and i love you, and everything i have ever done has been motivated by that love. i would never want to be unhelpful in any way. i think that given the circumstances, the best way i can help now some if i step aside and let government get back to governing. >> his resignation takes effect in 14 days. that announcement comes exactly a week after the new york attorney general released her report that alleges he sexually harassed 11 women. the governor though is still defiant. he says the most serious allegations have no credible factual basis in that report, and we're getting some reactions now as you would expect. the white house says that the governor's resignation is what president biden has called and advocated for, and new york mayor big de blasio issued a statement. here is part of it. make no mistake, this is the result of survivors bravely telling their stories. it was past time for andrew cuomo to resign, and it is good for -- it is for the good of all of new york. and the state's two senators
