mcauliffe? mr. mcauliffe: yes, of course i would sign it.you look at my plan, i am calling for clean energy by 2035. when i think of clean energy, i think of jobs. thousands and thousands of new jobs is what i think of when i think of clean energy. that is our future. when i was governor, i signed the first offshore federal release for wind turbines and we have turbines right now 27 miles off virginia beach lighting up 3000 homes. we have permits in front of the boe, and when they get approved in three years, we will have 200,000 turbines out there. right now a lot of them are manufactured in europe and are brought by ship to be assembled. forget that. i want them all assembled here. we can pick the biggest in the united states. those jobs will be throughout the entire commonwealth, welders, electricians, everything. we can become the hub and will be the hub when i am governor. i believe in clean energy. when trump pulled his out of the paris climate agreement -- susan: thank you. >> 30 seconds. mr. youngkin: we see challenges getting to the

so can terry mcauliffe who is trying to be governor again, can he use this there?'t know if everyone running for governor is going to pursue as an aggressive a suite of mandates as newsom did. but generally, yes, i think that democrats you see already in both virginia with terry mcauliffe and in new jersey with governor murphy, they are leaning into mandates and portraying their republican opponents as threats to the ability to contain the virus because they are focusing on, quote, the rights and choices of the unvaccinated. i think one lesson out of california is it there is a silent majority of the vaccinated which is now three quarters of the country that is largely exasperated with those refusing the choice, only about one quarter of the country at this point, and are ready for tougher measures to try to get this under control and try to get life back to some semblance of normal. >> that would be nice. normal would be nice. ron, thank you so much. it is lovely to see you this morning. the biden administration appraising for potential violence during saturday's

the mcauliffe campaign is highlighting the republican statements on this.mcauliffe, who is a savvy politician, thinks it is a winning situation for him. it doesn't mean everywhere in the country. >> for decades it has been something that energizes a small portion of the population, but will it be elevated to laefl where more in the country will consider it when they cast votes? >> i think so here in virginia. it is not just the democratic base, as was said. there are a ton of independent voters, you know, romney/biden voters so to speak who don't want the kind of law we have in texas. we will see if yunken has the nerve to distance himself from that. he is nervous about elevating his base. i would say let's see what happens in texas. are we going to have stories over the next two, four, six weeks of people being persecuted by bounty seekers? i don't think we're in a static situation here. it is not like a law has been passed and sit back and it is a theoretical debate. there are real things that will be happening on the ground. challenges in texas courts an

so if you just assume that mcauliffe is a smart politician, youngkin is running a reasonable campaignhere in virginia, which isn't exactly like the rest of the country obviously. but still here in virginia the democrats think the texas developments are helping them and republicans are hiding from the questions. >> to your point, all the recent polling shows this law is not popular on the national or the local level. recent polls show the majority of americans believe abortion should always be legal or be legal most of the time. and in texas specifically, more people disapprove than approve of this new law. one poll shows only 42% of voters support this new law. another poll finds only 32% of registered texas voters approve of the way lawmakers have handled abortion policy in that state. so, bill, texas has been reliably conservative for decades. if this isn't even popular in that state, why do you think lawmakers pushed it through? >> i think they kind of thought they'd never have to actually live with the consequences of it. it was for parts of their base being more and more extreme
