the latest polls out of "the washington post" has likely voters with youngkin, the republican 47.ed. we are back with the panel. what about this as the president's approval slides because of a number of different reasons. how do democrats look at this? we are a long way from 2022. >> two schools of thought, the progressive view is that the way to win this election next year is to pass a lot of bills that the polls say are popular and that will fill many of the promises that they made in 2020, including the president biden made and moderates look at it from the point of view of their districts which are a lot closer and say if we embrace that entire agenda, i'm going to lose my seat which is part of losing the house. and the truth of the matter is, bret, with redistricting and the usual trend of a president's first term being unfavorable in house elections. democrats really don't have a great chance to begin with of holding the house. in a way, i agree with kim, what's going to be really interesting to watch is how president biden defines himself, which will affect 2024. is he goin

in the virginia race, glenn youngkin was like, can we talk about something else. >> this is a republicant women in the last election by 15 points, lost independents by nine, ten points. they can't afford -- this only helps them in places they're already winning big. i will say, though, i do agree with what congresswoman comstock was saying. i don't think the court has signaled they're going to overturn roe v. wade. the majority of the court says there's a procedural issue, we'll wait until there's a case in front of us. i would be shocked if this stood up. >> that said, in looking at the ruling that came out from the five justices where they declined to pause the texas law, one piece of that that's missing from that very, very brief order that several legal folks noted to me is it didn't say explicitly that the texas law was unconstitutional. those justices could have said this law is blatantly unconstitutional given current supreme court precedence. they could have said that but they didn't. that's an ominous sign to those who want to protect abortion rights. >> you know, brendan, legit
