that is the cool thing about dan curtis in london.ink there might be some bloomberg branded mini rowing oars on the way for the baby. matt: i wonder, is that the real reason he moved to london? is rowing a bigger deal in the u.k. then it is in the u.s.? because i know he spent a lot of time at the new york athletic club in their pelham area, in the water, on the oars. what is the big race they have? kriti: the regatta? dani: henley. matt: henley on the thames or something. dani: kriti and i both went to university of virginia, which does have an excellent crew and rowing team, but i have never watched a single race until i moved to london and watched the henley regatta. kriti: and now we know, folks. dani: it was very cool. kriti: was it fox field or henley? what was the better experience? dani: one i remember more than the other, that is probably all i will go into. fox field is the horse races that occur at uva. that is your who knowledge of the day. matt: ascot is one i also remember. let's say congratulations to dan curtis, his wi

this is a great chart that dan curtis put together showing the extremity of moves and how rarely you see a move like this in volkswagen shares. in the last few minutes, we had the three year treasury auction results coming out. >> we've got $54 billion worth of that auction coming on to the markets to digest and we are getting yields of 1% versus the pre-yield sales of 1.0 3%. we do actually get a bit of a dip here 5.5 basis points. this is the highest yielding auction going back to february of 2020 dislocations in the market when it comes to demand. we do actually see some dip buying coming into play. if i run you through the other numbers, in line with the average of the past six auctions, so pretty good demand here. foreign demand at 52.2%. this is after the hawkish pivot from the fed last week. this is the first auction after that and that's why investors are looking toward this. we had the cpi data at the end of the weekend we are getting a wild low number. i think for the fed to change its trajectory. we have the fed meeting next week and this is what bond investors are looking

francine: dan curtis made me this awesome inflation forward-looking breakeven.nt to get your thoughts on inflation. is the omicron variant, if it gets worse from here, is it inflationary pressure without hurting growth? is it trickier for central banks? could we be in a stagflationary environment because of it? >> if we look at some of the worst case scenarios and omicron were to be more pervasive, i think we will see continued supply chain disruption, which we know quite vividly has inflationary pressure. you have to think about what policymakers would be doing in conjunction with that outcome and we would expect them to extend the generous policy settings and the deficits could be more expensive than they already are. we think investors should brace themselves for volatility in that there is an inflationary piece to that, but again, it is not necessarily the trigger to take evasive action out of equities. francine: where do you find the most value at the moment? is there something that is a little bit unloved you think now is the right time to pick up? >> i th

when you look at technology and i have a great bloomberg chart -- think you to dan curtis -- he sents to me saying, you would think that lower treasury yields would help some of the technology companies, but actually if you look at this chart, it is not the case. what do you do with technology shares right now? >> i think people are looking forward and seeing that growth trade, some of the big cap names and technology are not going to fare so well. the higher growth rate are going to be something that people are quite worried about. at the same time, because of the absolute numbers they are generating, the market dominance that they have within the market means that they are still very important names. you have to be quite conviction negative. they do trade together to a certain extent, as well. francine: do you like some of the software? i know you think that the use of it is slowing, if i can get my words up on a tuesday, slowing but also scalable. >> the semi conductor names who are fueling some of the technology growth within consumer-electronics, that has been held back this yea

francine: we also have a great chart that dan curtis just sent out that looks at the evergrande priceod to remind everyone. there are no trades reported yet since the headline, which was fitch cutting evergrande to restricted default. does this in general worry you that it could be something systemic or because we talk about it day in and day out, we are also at a point where it will be ok? john: i'm not sure that it is a game changer. the tone has been set. when the evergrande story broke, there was a shock, it was new news, but it does seem the authorities have been clear that they are going to let the market do its thing, they are going to let things correct, people are going to find a way, the market is going to find a way, with some supports, if needed. the whole aim is to avoid contagion, provide supports. it was interesting that the housing sector is open for some targeted supports. these fires will be put out, we believe, and it is not going to turn into a systemic issue. francine: overall, if you go back to omicron, is this stagflationary light? john: it is a difficult one. w
