and the early development first phases of the project include gilman library, which is on the upper left hand corner as well as two academic buildings and the power plant. and i want to point out in particular the circular drive. and i'm going to give it a try. at some risk. give me one second. you can't see it very well even so. but you see the laser there. that complete circular drive in olmsted's plan and development that established a frontage on charles street but also the principle axes that leads to the library to gilman at its head. but the most interesting thing about this plan i think is that all of the future buildings of that plan had been graded out into pads, including excavation of the basement levels on those plans. and it shows an extraordinary, kind of, commitment to an idea. but it also and the most beautiful thing about it in my mind is it almost self determinating plan, by making that part of the first phase, it absolutely ensures that that second phase get done. and it is a beautiful demonstration i think of the confidence in that grading and also in the ordered dis
