senior correspondent laura ingle is in tampa, tonight. >> we finally know the answer to one of the biggestthis case. did brian laundrie leave behind a confession before he took his own life admitting that he was responsible for the death of his fiancee gabby petino while they were on their cross-country road trip last year. on friday the fbi revealed that answer is yes. this new information was released in what the fbi called its final investigative update on the gabriel petino case. the statement reads in part: investigators found human remains later confirmed to be mr. laundrie along with a backpack, notebook and a rerevolver. a review of the notebook revealed written statements by mr. laundrie claiming responsibility for mispetino's death. the fbi also revealing that there were several text messages identified between laundrie and petino's cell phones in the days after petino's death and saying that the timing and content of these messages shows that laundrie was attempting to deceive law enforcement by giving the impression that gabby was still alive. now, the attorneys for both famili

senior correspondent laura ingle has the latest on america's crime crisis tonight. >> a somber scenenew york city once again after nypd officer wilbur mora who was shot in the line of duty succumbed to his injuries tuesday. his fellow officers lining the streets of new york last night paying tribute to their fallen colleague who the nypd commissioner called three times a hero for choosing a life of service, for sacrificing his life to protect others, and forgiving life even in death through organ donation. hundreds of uniformed officers lined up outside the hospital on tuesday as word quickly spread the 27-year-old police officer wilbur mora who was injured while responding to a domestic incident in harlem last friday did not survive. he and his partner were both shot in the head during the call, both were killed by a suspect who also died in the incident. this as the nypd releases new video of a suspect in the vehicle related to another horrific crime which involve the shooting of an 11-month-old girl in the face in the bronx last week. the uptick in violence prompting a call from p

fox news laura ingle tells us doors designed to keep smoke from a fire contained appear to have failed. the f d. n y assessing the situation monday in the bronx after new york city's worst fire in 30 years despite dramatic video of flames coming out of a second story window at the 19 story apartment building, the fire chief says that's not what quickly turned the situation into a crisis. the fire. was contained to the hallway just outside this two story apartment, but the smoke travel throughout the building, and the smoke is what caused the deaths and serious injuries. fire marshals say a space heater started the fire and an open doorway allowed smoke to escape. doors in the building are supposed to swing shut on their own, but did not work as intended. the door when it was fully open stayed fully opened because it malfunctioned. the tragedy is prompting questions about safety standards in affordable housing. the building did not have sprinklers inside individual apartments. it was equipped with smoke alarms, but some residents initially ignored them because they would often go off ac
