i spoke earlier with former deputy assistant of defense mick mulroy. at this point, what do you think can stop vladimir putin? do you have any hope for today's talks on the belarus border? >> by this time, most military analysts have expected the russian military to advance much further. they haven't, and that's largely because of the tenacity and bravery of the ukrainian army and its people, but also because the russian army seems less capable than most of us thought. what would stop them from advancing? the same thing that stopped them fom advancing so far, which is that tenacity of the ukrainian resistance. unfortunately, the russians have many, many more troops that they can send in, and they are known for using very hostile tactics, sometimes taking civilians. which they exhibited in syria. so this could get much more intense. >> and your thoughts on whether the u.s. should sanction the russian gas and oil sector, even if it hurts americans with higher gas and oil prices? >> i think it's important that everything that president putin does going fo
