[applause] in my final days as your president, we issued a bipartisan letter, a bipartisan letter to the senate urging passage of the essential voting rights protection laws. the john lewis voting rights advancement act and the freedom to vote act must be passed by the senate and must be signed into law. full stop. [applause] as our letter stated, american democracy is stronger when all eligible voters participate in elections. yet voting rights are under historic attack and our very democracy is threatened by state actions. this cannot be allowed. and there's so much more to do to ensure our country and our cities fully recover from covid-19 and come back stronger than before. that is why it's vie tl to finally pass the build back better agenda and give every kid, every family, and every community the opportunity to thrive. now mayors, these challenges are daunting. but i can think of no better

focused on reimagines our city. bie rafael director of san francisco department of environment to talk about climate action plan. welcome. >> thank you. it is a pleasure to be here. >> thank you, too. i have seen the climate action plan. it is a very detailed document that might be a little incontinue dating to digest is there a simple way to summit up? >> you are right. this is a science-based document. we are very, very proud of the rigor. over 150 implementable actions to achieve net zero emissions by 2040. i think i can summarize everything in the plan in four words. zero 80-100 roots. that is all you need to know and think about when you think about your own climate action plan. let me explain a little bit more. zero. zero waste. landfill incineration. zero toxics. cutting down what you buy altogether. that is really how we are going to reduce emissions upstream from all of the manufacturing and mining that happens because of the decisions we make about what we buy. zero. everything in your blue and green bins.

and so hope sf strives to work with our city systems to better serve our public housing communities.> so recently, mayor breed and speaker pelosi toured the site to both put focus on a national housing initiative and also to highlight the completion of the first new building. how many units does it contain and when will people start moving in? >> yeah. it was an amazing event. honored to have the secretary here with us as well in our community. it's 167 units. it's about 75% going back to the original families that currently live on site. so the replacement. so i did forget to mention i want to say real quick, the beauty of hope sf is housing development, new development without displacements or anti-displacement initiatives. so, for example, the building is 167 units. 75% of those units going to families that have lived there in the community for generationings and the other 25% are tax credit units adding to the affordable housing stock here in san francisco and those units are up and running now. they're leasing them as we speak. people are picking their units each week until they

for our cities, the funding will be, will also help keep families safe with our safe streets for all initiative. and it will advance president biden's focus on promoting equity by reconnecting communities harmed by infrastructure projects in the past that divided community. the investment will create good paying jobs in your community with turbo-charging americans competitiveness, boosting small businesses, cutting commutes and helping supply chain bottlenecks, this law is already delivering for the american people. in recent weeks, administration announced new funding to improve airports across the nation, to rebuild and repair bridges, including off-system bridges and i keep talking about it, get the lead out of the water systems especially in under-served communities. as we implement legislature infrastructure, democrats remain hard at work to build back better than it was before the virus even struck. we are committed to passing legislation to bring down everyday costs for working families from healthcare to childcare, to family care and more. we must also work together to combat

looking closely at our city our home funded resources. this is an estimated number of clients to be served. the proportion of clients served are experiencing homelessness this. is an estimate of the number of people and slots available to homeless people in the 2019-20 fiscal year. a good baseline and starting place for this analysis. now we are going to turn. there are a number of touch points between the health system and between the homeless response system. i think starting five or ten years ago physical health bammore appreciated and there were more interventions and efforts to build up those connections. it is this moment making the connection between housing and mental health. i think san francisco is at the front of that. we will now turn to look at what is available in the homeless response system. these are services primary available to homeless households. without prevention and problem shoveling we are talking about shelter resources together. these are not housing. they are an important intervention that can provide rubrics t
