that's in my opinion, environmental justice, economic justice and energy justice. also want to point out some things about the research. we love to talk about technology and this committee, and some of our other. committees and we act as though methane is a problem that can't be solved. that's just not the case. university of illinois since we were talking about the state of illinois has developed -- methanol. liquid fuel. pacific northwest national laboratories burning methane with 002 emissions. am i tease converting methane to fuel or chemical feedstock, onset at the we'll head. that technology not commercially available yet,, but i predict that it will be. we're doing a tremendous job in that area and there's also the issue of the research that shows common clay products such as what they use in cat letter, can be used to curb methane emissions. i realize that methane is a major greenhouse gas, but it's also one of the most volatile greenhouse gas. i want to ask, doctor all did, you mention in your testimony development on new technology to detect methane leaks

. >> [mic is off] >> i'm with people demanding economic and economic rights and environmental justice organization here in san francisco. and we're part of the reclaim our power utility justice campaign. and part of what i was, i'm going to discuss, you know, kicking off from what supervisor chan mentioned is the impact that pg&e san francisco and california as a whole. next slide, please. so, as supervisor chan mentioned, pg&e has been the -- responsible for multiple wildfires over the past several years that have led to not only obviously property destruction, worsening environment and climate but the deaths of californians. i won't go through the whole list but you can look at that and there's been increasingly wildfires that caused the death of people that pg&e has been held in court responsible for. next slide. at the same time, their approach to their negligence in terms of taking care of their equipment over the years has been to say, part of the ways that we'll address the issue of the fire from their transmission lines and equipment is to just shut the power off and these mas
