meagan fitzgerald joins me from kyiv with more on this. a russian media outlet, they are saying the russians want more clarification about this report. of course, russia continues to blame ukraine for the shelling. look, this u.n. watchdog report that came out yesterday is a result of those inspectors from the international atomic energy agency being allowed in the facility to do a good assessment. what we learned is why we continue to hear these things like the nuclear plant is heading for this nuclear disaster. they are saying the plant has violated the seven pillars of nuclear safety. we are talking about the physical integrity, structural integrity of the plant, that the safety and security systems aren't fully functioning, the staff is under undue pressure. this off-site power source is not sufficient. a lot of concerns. we have heard from the director general of the iaea for several weeks now calling on the russians to demilitarize the plant, calling on the shelling to stop. what we have seen is neither of those things have happened.

megan fitzgerald is live from ukraine. we heard from president zelenskyy who is calling on world leaders to label russia a state sponsor of terrorism. he says not doing so would be betrayal. and, of course, this comes after this horrific discovery in the forest of izium which was a city that he just visited days ago on wednesday. what investigators are saying they found among the bodies that they exhumed today, there was a mass grave of ukrainian soldiers where they saw ropes around their necks, hands died behind their backs. they found bodies of families, children, middle age, elderly bodies. and the majority of them showed signs of torture and a violent death. there are investigators on the scene right now processing this scene. the bodies will be transferred to the forensic examiner to identify them and they will be laid to rest once more. the concern here, katy, is that this isn't even the worst of it. as the ukrainians have been able to force the russians out of these areas, this is what we're starting to see. we saw

joining me now from kyiv, ukraine, is nbc's megan fitzgerald. what's the latest on the ground?r the last several days since friday is this increased shelling in and around the zaporizhzhia nuclear plant. over the weekend, for example, we saw the fifth reactor that was forced to be taken off line. of course, this morning, we saw more shelling that caused the fire that then triggered the sixth reactor. and keep in mind there's only six, to be disconnected from the grid. all of this happening today, not long after we saw the majority of those international atomic energy agency experts and investigators leaving the plant. of course, we know that two retained inside of that facility to maintain this permanent presence there. but what this shows is that despite calls from the director general, despite calls from, you know, international leaders, the shelling has not stopped. that's exactly what the director general has said needs to stop, because as the shelling continues, so does the chances that increase for this potential nuclear disaster. look, the ukrainians say they're not taki
