i'm terry mcsweeney. gia is off tonight. that excessive heat warning was just extended to wednesday now. and just as expected, hundreds crowded beaches in the bay area, trying to escape the high temperatures. take a look at the view in pacifica. long delays on highway 1 from all the people trying to get out there. similar scene at china beach. check out the people enyouing the beach and clear skies and most importantly, cooler weather. some parts of the bay area going through triple-digit heat, and it's going get hotter. and with that comes the strain on the power grid. state officials say the grid has been stable the last few days, thanks to conservation. but things are going to intensify monday. they're expecting energy demand to hit near record levels. a quick look at our traffic camera on the bay bridge toll plaza, boy, things have changed. things appear to be moving again. it's been packed at times. much of the day it was stopped an hour■7 or so ago. this all comes as we're under a spare the air alert. for much of the w
