cortez masto has done well with the updates there.is expected about 11:00 tonight, and then there really is a scattering of votes in the red rural counties here, where laxalt could pick up a few votes, but the volume of vote there pales by comparison to what is still to come, mainly from clark county. on top of this, by the way, we're getting 22,000 tonight from clark county. they also have about 6000 provisional ballots. those will be tallied and released next week, expected to favor the democrats, and they have some curate ballots as well, probably about 9000 cured ballots, ballots that had signature issues, maybe the voter forgot to sign it. they give you the window in nevada where you can reach out to election officials, verify your identity. the bout can be counted, so there are other opportunities. the provisional ballots in particular, there are other opportunities for cortez masto to gain votes. bottom line, if she gets in 22, 000, what she has been getting in the previous updates, because we have been getting updates from cla

it is a dramatic improvement for cortez masto.of percentage of victory of the votes as they come in, that is going to help her overtake laxalt and potentially pad a lead. >> right now he's only winning by about 862 votes. yesterday, 24 hours ago he was ahead by some 9,000 votes. it's really cut down. >> you recall we saw his lead shrink and then we saw it grow again when we got some of the more rural areas. i think we got a douglas county vote, carson city, that's a laxalt county. but these are smaller counties with smaller vote totals than what we are going to see out of this huge enormous democratic county, clark county. >> we could get the results very, very soon. that could be very critical to determine whether catherine cortez masto wins reelection or whether the challenger adam laxalt can stay on top. at some point if we do get results that are in her favor, there's potentially a projection we could make. >> potentially. we're going to have to see what the split is. if they look overwhelmingly advantageous for the democrat c

cortez masto was winning it by an almost 2 to 1 margin. so i think that there is a lot of reason to suspect that would continue with this new batch of votes, and again, that would dwarf anything that laxalt gains from what is left in the rural areas of nevada. that would allow her, not just to move ahead, but to move ahead by a fairly significant margin. again, i believe that we had our last update from clark county, it has been several hours now, they are not going to have another report as far as i know until tomorrow. the only question right now, we are trying to find an answer, is there any more from washoe county? they talked about there being 20, this was ten, you saw 10,000 has brought cortez masto to the cusp of surpassing laxalt. she is not quite there, we will see if there is any more from washoe that comes in tonight. i think that is the big remaining question of the night in nevada. >> all right, we will squeeze in a commercial break here is steve, so you can catch your breath. we will take a break here. we will be right back.

adam laxalt or senator cortez masto? >> here's what we're thinking. in clark county it leans democratic. in yesterday's data dump she won about 63% of those votes. if she repeats that today when we get the card numbers, that is going to be very close to carrying her across the finish line. having said that, washo county does still matter. there's 13,000 votes there. she only won washo by about 10% in this most recent data dump. no way to know whether she'll fare slightly better or slightly worse than that. we'll be watching clark county closely. if she65% or more in clark, it's going to be a tough climb for laxalt to come back from that. if she's less than 65%, even under 60%, most likely we're going to have to wait a couple of hours for those washo county votes to come in before we can make a determination. >> we've all watched adam laxalt's lead shrink as more results have come in over the past 24 hours or so. you mentioned the campaign sounds less confident. a source is also telling cnn the mood inside adam laxalt's campaign is, quote, awful. has a

he has the lead over katherine cortez masto. if you were a betting person hearing las vegas, and there were a lot of them, you would have a bet that it would be this close in the race. it is razor thin. over the course the last few days, this is what we have seen. the mail-in ballots are being tabulated here in the county. that includes wash account. that is where reno is. the mail-in ballots have been breaking heavily for cortez masto. at the end of election day, this is adam laxalt with a substantial lead. that league has been shipped away every single night with these vote drops. now, if they continue in that direction, cortez masto could have the lead. potentially by thousands of those by the end of the day. this is in the last couple of hours. adam laxalt tweeted out. he tweeted to his supporters. they still have a chance. we are looking at these vote counts. he says that if they are gop precincts, if they are slightly democrat leading, we can still win. if they contribute to -- if they trend heavy democrat, she will overta

the national audience gets an idea of how weak senator catherine cortez masto is. she's asked about spending. she says we just passed a bill to stop spending. everybody knows that they spent more money. everybody knows that they made inflation worse just a few weeks ago. she had the opportunity to stand with nevada to tell joe biden that she wasn't going to spend more money. but she cast that vote just like she's cast every other vote with joe biden when he's needed her. all of these things have added up to make nevada an absolute disaster zone on inflation, on gas prices, law and order issues and our open border which is killing not just vegas but our rural communities all over our great state. >> martha: let me ask you about what to expect. you're in an area that ralston says that he thinks cortez masto could pull out a win. i'm asking what you're looking for. what should we all be watching for in the county that you're in, which is where reno is. what are you looking at right now in terms of what has you -- how you're positioned. >> yeah, here's the great news.

they broke heavily, almost 2 to 1 for catherine cortez masto. and there is still 24,000 votes remaining there in clark county. additionally, we expect tomorrow is when we're gonna see more from clark. meanwhile, we are also expecting 20,000 from the other population's sudden [inaudible] that's where we know it is. we are expecting -- to get about 20,000 votes here and again, last night around that time we got an update from washout county and cortez masto was winning by nearly 30 points. it's a chance here with this updated 11:00 for cortez masto, if it breaks for her decisively, as it has been begging for her decisively in these updates from washable, she could vote past adam laxalt and into the lead. and at that point, what would be left? as we, say they would still be 24,000 votes from clark county and we just got a sense earlier tonight how those votes are breaking. they seem to be breaking not just a little bit but dramatically in favor of katherine cortez masto. there will also be about 5700 provisional ballots that we expect to break demo

what was your takeaway as to why so close, why cortez masto prevailed?emains so, has been so for a long time. we started to look blue the last couple of cycles, that means democratic-leaning, but we really are a swing state and we have a very large portion of nonpartisan voters here, as well. from cycle to cycle, it is sometimes anyone's guess how the nonpartisans will lean. this year, though, in nevada, for a variety of interesting reasons, the democrat was able to prevail, so, i guess all eyes are on georgia now. >> you know, we saw, you know, elsewhere, right around the country, that despite republican focus on the economy, abortion rights, democracy, and so on, played bigger roles in the minds of voters than many perhaps expected. what were the issues in nevada that impacted the election? what did you take away from what you've seen in that context? >> yeah, so, you're absolutely right. i think the economy and inflation, those were the top issues on voters' minds in nevada. every survey repeatedly showed those issues being at the top of mind. but it

as stephanie said, we have heavily favored catherine cortez masto. if she gets a reasonable percentage of those, she is probably going to be ahead in this race. that doesn't mean that she's going to win. there are still anywhere from 8 to 10,000 ballots to be counted in this county, which is reno. she has won there as well. but then there are thousands of those in rural nevada, we are not quite sure how many. it seems like there's probably 5 to 7000. adam laxalt will windows, the question is, what is the margin? as stephanie said, it is possible that by tonight, whenever all these numbers come in, alex, that katherine cortez masto could have a lead in this race. >> so you're saying that we could realistically expect a winner to be declared by today? or was it merely just a leader in the race by that 5 pm deadline that is been out there. do you think we can expect recounts, lawsuits in this race if it doesn't meet the fog cam deadline? >> well, the answer to all those questions could be yes. it depends what the margins are in the urban areas for cathe

and cortez masto, if she wins this seat, democrats will retain control of the u.s. what happens in that georgia runoff. what we are waiting on, election officials in clark county, that's where las vegas is, that is by far the biggest county in the state. 70% of the vote comes out of there. they have told us, there are at least 22,000 mail ballots that they are set to release, starting anywhere at right now, 7 pm eastern time. they said, sometime in the window of seven to about 9:30 eastern, they expect to release all of those votes. again, these are vote by mail ballots. we've got a big batch of them out of clark county yesterday. they were very good for cortez masto. she was winning them by an almost 2 to 1 margin. if she were to do anything of that order tonight with these ballots, as you can see, you could do the math yourself, that would easily vaulter ahead of laxalt. that would give her a significant lead over laxalt. outside of those 22,000 ballots in clark county, not a ton left in nevada. there's about 10,000 in washoe county, that is where we know is. that

are you bullish about cortez masto? >> andrea, if the trends continue as they have been going with cortez masto and as steve pointed out picking up 55%, 60% of the votes that are still out there in the urban counties of washo and clark, she's going to win. that's if the trends hold. she has gotten over 60% in every batch that has been reported in the last few days. that's going to bring her way over the top of a 9,000 vote deficit. laxalt will pick up votes in rural nevada. i would guess 3 or 4,000 will be added to his lead. they will be overwhelmed by the votes in urban nevada. how many are left? that's a very good question. probably about 70,000 or so, maybe a little bit more than that. then you have to add in provisional ballots and mail ballots that have been talken out to be so-called cured, fix signature problems. that's another 10,000 plus with all those ballots added together. right now, she's looking pretty good. >> it looks to me, just as an observer here, that governor sisolak has a tougher climb. >> yeah. i

catherine cortez masto gets to stay as a u.s. senator from the state of nevada, and with that the democrats get to keep control of the u.s. senate. here's how it all went down on saturday. clarke county issued a tabulation of about 23,000 votes and here's how the votes were divided. catherine cortez masto received more than 14,000 votes or 60% of the batch. adam laxalt received more than 8,000 votes, or about 35% of that batch. that put catherine cortez masto in the lead statewide by more than 5,000 votes. at that point cnn called the race. her campaign taking to twitter to say, quote, what did people get wrong about this race? the first latina senator knows her community better than anonymous sources. the daughter of a teamster knows how to fight for working families and a former ag, the crime attacks couldn't stick. the democratic incumbent here in nevada, catherine cortez masto, gets to stay as senator of nevada. boris, amara? >> rosa, thank you for that. >>> to arizona now where maricopa county continues to hold the biggest n

catherine cortez masto got two of them. i will write down the percentages. batch. she got 40%. all joking aside, what did that do? in the senate that changed -- in the senate race lead it changed his lead from 862 votes to 863 votes. his margin just went up by one single vote. that's how closely everyone is watching this race right now. wolf, you know, we are sitting here and it is saturday night. let me tell you how we got to this point. it is really interesting. if you look back at how the vote has been counted, on wednesday night -- which is a full night after the polls closed there -- you could see adam laxalt had a lead of some 22,690 votes. by 9:00 that night, just two hours later, there was a release from clark county. his lead had shrunk to less than 18,000. a couple of hours after that a republican batch came out. the lead grew again. it then shrunk after some washoe vote. it shrunk more after clark county vote. it shrunk more after some washoe vote. republican vote came in, it grew a little bit again. clark county came in. it shrunk a lot. all of a

so, those ballots could favor katherine cortez masto. and then, just to put one more group of ballots into this messy makes, there are provisional ballots, saying the registration, people come and they have to check, to make sure that those ballots have not been duplicated in the system. that will take a little while. so, if cortez masto wins overwhelmingly tomorrow in clark and washoe, it's probably over. but if she does not, stephanie, we're gonna have to wait until next week. >> all right, tell us about joe lombardo, the republican who won the race for governor. what do we need to know about this guy? >> well, lombardo was a new -- he assembled a tremendous team around him. to run his campaign, and he is running against the governor, who essentially was saddled with a pandemic. had to make some very difficult decisions, and economies crossed. as you know, stephanie, it's all tourism here. you shut down the las vegas strip for a couple of months, you are gonna really hurt people's lives, there were problems with the unemployment system

clearly neck and neck between cortez masto and adam laxalt. and we just got douglas county, around 5,000 there. do we expect the rest of the outstanding vote to favor laxalt or masto? >> well, it depends where those votes are. as you have been discussing there for the last few minutes, right? so, up in wah show county, which is reno area ooeps, that's kind of a swing county. so, we're very interested to see the next data dump from washo so we can get a sense of whether cortez masto is trending ahead of laxalt up there, as we're sort of expecting. opposite story in clark county, where las vegas is located, that tends to lead much more heavily democratic. so, she's likely to pick up more votes the next time we get a data dump from clark. we're hoping to get another one tonight. we don't know if that's going to happen. these douglas numbers, interesting, we were really waiting to see what was going to come from douglas county because, as we do all of our math projections here trying to figure out, okay, what does cortez masto need to hold in the u

democratic incumbent catherine cortez masto is -- or cortez masto, i should say is leading, but is stillpoint. catherine cortez masto still leading there. head over now to the magic wall with mr. john berman. boy, it is tight, john. >> let's go into nevada right now. leading by 0.6%. but don, it's just 4500 votes. the democratic incumbent's lead right now is 4500 votes. and i want to point out there are some counties we haven't heard from at all here. now look. let's talk about nye county in nevada. it's a tiny county. it just makes up 1.5% of the vote. but we have zero percent in. let's look at what donald trump did there. donald trump won that county by 10,000. so just that county alone in theory you can see the republicans wipe out the leaden joyed right now by the democrats there. let's go back to the senate, back to nevada. you can -- i can poke around and show you the other counties here. leon county here. zero percent reported. two years ago the margin here for donald trump was 12,000. so, again, just what these counties that haven't reported, you could see that margin made up com

we are seeing movement in the laxalt-cortez-masto race. when we started, cortez-masto had the lead and now laxalt is in the lead by almost 23,000 with 72% of the vote in. what counties, what areas of nevada are you looking at in the next couple hours? >> ep why, he's picked up 25,000 voteses since we went on the air the last hour. look at clark county right now, the las vegas area in clark county. even though clark county tends to be democratic, they are telling me the votes are out in the republican areas and joe lombardo, who is ahead of adam laxalt, the clark county sheriff. i think you will see the vote between both lombardo and laxalt will be pretty similar and i'm looking forward to seeing the exit polls when all said and done, i think we'll see what seems to be putting laxalt and lombardo over the top are hispanic voter necessary nevada. >> todd: 80% on the map means twenty % outstanding, does that 20% lean more laxalt or cortez-masto? >> there is a lot of red in nevada, with the exception of the clark county area. i think it will h

and cortez masto picks up 8,000 votes. so what that does to the state-wide tally, yeah, it almost erases adam laxalt's lead state-wide. down to just 798 votes. one tenth of one point. i think it's very significant because, again, two things are very significant about what we just got out of clark county. number one is just the fact that cortez masto is winning the ballots by the margin that she won them by. because that's one of the questions there. that's almost two to one. she's getting more than 60% of that new vote that just dropped. we have been saying she needs to be in the high 50s, over 60 of the votes coming out of clark county, to be on pace to catch laxalt state-wide. there were some questions about these ballots dropped off in drop boxes on election day, if they might be a little les democratic friendly, a little more republican friendly than the more recent updates we have been getting out of clark county. this tells us they're just as democratic, at least so far. that batch we just got is as democratic as the

and then in nevada, republican adam laxalt holds a narrow lead over democratic senator catherine cortez masto. and in georgia, senator raphael warnock and herschel walker, they are back on the campaign trail, they are headed to a runoff again. this all happens next month. now, let's look at the house. the republicans inching closer to retaking the majority, but right now we have to say it is far from a done deal. nearly three dozen races remain undecided. president biden, his take on all of it. he says the results represent a good day for democracy as his party avoided an expected republican blow-out yet will still see if republicans or democrats remain a majority. we are covering all of this with you for reporters in key states throughout the hour and john berman on those undecided races here with me in studio in the senate especially. what are you searing? >> one thing i want to make clear, not only do we not know who will control the senate but we don't know when we will know. these are the races that are still undecided. georgia going to a runnin'. nevada and arizona, let me show you what
