good afternoon, i'm reed cowan. the latest inflation numbers are out, there's good and bad news. kpix 5 's anne makovec is here to break it all down for us. anne? >> it is the first month since february that u.s. consumer inflation is actually under 8%. prices increased to 7.7% over the past 12 months. that is assigned the inflation pressures might be slowing as consumers grow a little more cost stars cautious. analysts say the federal reserve is not going to be happy until inflation comes down much more than that, and they will likely raise interest rates again, in december. what can we expect to spend in the months to come? >> we have seen peak prices in the housing market, those increases are tapering off. most economists are penciling in that house prices will drop nominally by another 8% from where they are right now. unfortunately, i think the cost of food will remain high for both thanksgiving and christmas hanukkah season. and maybe if you are someone who celebrates anything in january and february, prices are going to be higher than pick and budget a little extra money.
