joining me now melissa murray msnbc legal analyst a professor at and why see you -- and why you schoolery much for coming back to the sunday show. neil, let's start with the big question. if donald trump does announce a 2022 run on tuesday, will that have any impact on doj's ability to indict him in the mar-a-lago documents case? >> jonathan, zero impact. it's hard to think of something more legally irrelevant than that. i think running from president will protect donald trump from and criminal charges. just about as much as drinking bleach is gonna protect you or me from covid. i happen to be in england right now and there are obviously -- the united states, there are not. the whole principle of the founders is no one is above the law. there is no full sovereign immunity. if you think of trump's arguments in combination, 20 17 to 20 said you can't indict me because i'm a sitting president. 2021, he said you can't indict me because i'm a former president. now he's starting out in 2022. you can and i me because i'm running for president. the term we constitutional callers have for that
