he was born and raised in san francisco. she's a san francisco girl.she's an enrolled member. she's arapahoe and cheyenne. her daughter is here and son-in-law that are here for her. chris' family history in san francisco is very close and special to her heart and it shaped her journey. her grandmother irene arrived in san francisco in the 1950s due to relocation and also known as public law 959. they originate from oklahoma. he went onto be the first native-american appointed on the human rights commission for the city of san francisco. 40 years ago. that's where you see the strong spirit. she's been a young activist. since she was a young girl she had an activist spirit. her mother is stage road traveler and diana took her and her siblings to alcatras. all of that in solidarity with our people. so, chris would stand an hold their head high to boycott. this is while learning about this. chris volunteered with friendship house and she's been involved in the longest walk activism and american movement. it's an honor to be able to give this award. thank y

when it comes to san francisco-when we look at socal, not san francisco, public transit ridership has been going way way way down and there are so many people even though public transit ridership is going up in the bay area, overall in the state of california public transit is taking a nose dive for the past 20 years and i didn't think what that says is california-we have not built it to work on public transit and when people dont want to keep riding public transit because they don't feel dignified, it isn't convenient and not high enough frequency and doesn't get you where you go and once you get a car you are like why do i want to downgrade to the bus or train. even though it is more sustainable and less traffic violence people don't want to ride public transit. we talk how important it is but nobody reads it and (inaudible) when it comes to san francisco we need to expand service so more of the bus lines are more frequent and when it comes to the bay area as a whole we need to work with caltrain, bart with the other transit authorities to make people that drive their car every day

your love for san francisco. how you have told people like the best places to eat. not the places that typically tourists go to at the whar and downtown but places in neighborhoods that still exist. places all around the city. you give them a different perspective of san francisco. when i travel, i wish i could find someone to give me nadifferent perspective. i gotta say, i get so many letters not always good letters but for this program, it is probably the program this i gotten the most good letters from visitors and people who travel to san francisco from downtown. and i make my staff give me them to read because i want to have i good day. and i have a good day when i hear about the stories where i think i don't want to say names but there was an ambassador who someone had an experience with a family member approximate a medical issue they let them use their cell phone ask stayed with them to make sure that that family got connected with another family member. and it is just things like that that make this prog
