joining me now is laura jarrett, nbc news senior legal correspondent. do we know about these two suspects. what more do we know about them and their relationship with each other? >> well, mehdi, these people do not appear to be unknown to law enforcement. they were certainly on the radar for quite some time. brandon russell, in particular, as you laid out, has a lengthy criminal history. someone would actually just gotten out of prison. he had been convicted of possessing precursors to explosive material, having explosive material in his home several years ago. he appears to have struck up a relationship with this woman in prison, sarah clendaniel. it's unclear exactly when she became radicalized and what your previous history was, but she had also been previously convicted for armed robbery. and so, she had been having trouble obtaining a weapon. she was caught making contact with his confidential federal informant in a variety of different correspondents that we now see laid out in this criminal complaint, making very detailed plans to get her hands o

nbc news senior legal correspondent laura jarrett is outside the supreme court.ith me, senior editor at "axios," sam baker. laura, give us the laymen's version of what this case is about and what the implications of the court's ruling could be? >> the justices just wrapped up two and a half hours of arguments and they seem largely unpersuaded that twitter should be held liable for aiding and abetting an active terrorist. the act stretches back to 2017 when a man was killed in a nightclub in turkey by a man inspired by isis. the family sued twitter saying that essentially twitter facilitated the growth of isis, and they should have done more to clean up the site, and something twitter of course disputes, but the justices seemed largely confused about how to try to find a limiting principle here when twitter accounts is a business used for legitimate purposes by and large. just because someone happens to misuse is it, is that enough to hold them liable. there's no clear link between the acts because the person who actually committed the crime, there's no evidence t

and nbc news senior legal correspondent laura jarrett. so, there was so much information that is coming out, these stories, which according to the prosecution are changing now. tell us about the prosecution's strategy in the courtroom so far. >> well, i think finally the prosecution is getting to the heart of the case. they're getting to the murders. they spent a lot of time on financials. they spent a lot of time setting up the fact that he was a privileged liar and a drug user and all of these other things that have already been heard in testimony. what they needed to accomplish in cross examination was to pick apart that new timeline that alex murdaugh came up with yesterday on the stand, and that, you know, it is whether the jury believes that or not. and what they're doing right now is finding lots of threads, details, things he said and unsaid about where he was in that timeline. so, i actually think in terms of what is difficult, tough questions for murdaugh to answer, they're happening right now on the stand. i think some people w
