erin rigsby. we've got him on the phone to talk about what he saw during tonight's storms. hi, erin. hi there. how are you doing tonight? good can you? can you tell us what you saw tonight when this outbreak started. yeah absolutely. this is one of those cases where this storm kind of went from looking, you know, not too great. it was very disorganized for a long time. and it accelerated, you know, from 0 to 100 in no time it went from , you know, kind of a small cylinder cones, tornado and within just a few lightning flashes that quickly grew into a quarter mile wide tornado where they ended up crossing at pretty close range in front of me right before and fortunately , insert the this town that we actually had to rescue and erin. what town were you in? that was in the town of rolling fork, mississippi. i literally arrived there. seconds after the tornado had hit. it was still pouring rain. there was lightning everywhere. there was still thunder, and there was just a constant rain of people yelling for help, so i quickly went to the nearest one that i could where i went to

erin rigsby joins us now from rolling fork. erin, tell us what you're seeing. yeah currently right now, the situation from this morning to this afternoon has actually probably taking a tick in the correct direction. this morning . a lot of those people were still kind of panicking. they were picking up those pieces trying to get in contact with loved ones and see who was hurt, who was accounted for, and actually this afternoon. it's been kind of a breath of fresh air to see there's a lot of volunteers here now handing out free food, free water and a lot of essential amenities. so it's been kind of a nice change of pace. today. it seems like everyone has kind of started to collect them. selves and now begins to clean up process. and aaron. i'm just trying to get a sense of what you're seeing on the ground there. we took one aerial view of a few moments ago that looked as though the tornado really just cut a path through this community. is that what you're wide path, obviously , but very destructive path. is that what you're saying? where is the devastation reall

i think we might have lost storm chaser erin rigsby, who is starting to us on the phone there, but weppreciate hearing from him. i want to get more now from cnn meteorologist karen mcginnis and karen i mean, just hearing him describe the wide swath of devastation there and this tornado, sadly claiming several lives. what's the latest? yes that number keeps going up. we looked first. it was reports of six fatalities than eight fatalities. now you see, it's 11 fatalities that will most likely continue to go up. this was a massive tornado, and it was suspected to have been on the ground for 75 miles. but let me qualify that by saying from rolling fork. all the way to silver city. that's about 75. miles then you go about another 75 to 80 miles, and then it's winona. and then you go to amery that goes from the west central portion of mississippi all the way to the northeastern corner of mississippi and then from there, that particular tornado looks like it may have been one tornado that kind of touched ground and then went back up in the air, and we saw a report. it's tornado reports comin
