alex presha is in columbus, ohio, as this story unfolds. orter: good morning, gio. welcome to pride columbus. we got vendors set up over here, march check-in back here, police back here with a staging area, some 700,000 people are participating in pride festivities here this weekend, but they're saying it's not just a celebration but also a call to action. this morning, columbus is preparing to welcome an estimated 700,000 people to its annual pride parade while a battle is brewing just blocks away at the ohio state house over the future of trans rights. the republican-controlled state legislature is considering a number of bills impacting trans youth. one called hb-68 would make it illegal for doctors to prescribe gender-affirming care for minors. including prescribing puberty blockers or hormones. >> that one concerns me because i'm actively on the list for puberty blockers. >> reporter: 11-year-old michael has identified as a boy for years now. his parents say puberty blockers are needed to pause his development. >> it makes me uncomforta

here's abc's alex presha. >> reporter: in a year that's already seen more mass shootings than days, at least three more overnight. in willowbrook, illinois, at least 22 people were shot at a juneteenth celebration in a strip mall parking lot overnight. >> female screaming. people reporting gunshots. >> reporter: one person killed. others fleeing the gunfire. >> we just started hearing shooting coming from behind us so we dropped down. >> it was chaos. >> reporter: police say they don't know how many suspects they're looking for or how many firearms were used. they're still investigating a motive. >> it's kind of becoming something where it's like inescapable. >> active shooting at gorge amphitheater, requesting any state assistance. >> reporter: in washington state, authorities say at least two people were killed and another two injured after a gunman opened fire near the beyond wonderland electronic dance music festival overnight. the sheriff's department says the shooter walked the campground shooting randomly into the crowd. a suspect, also injured, now in custody. the festival canc

alex presha joins us live. alex, good morning to you. >> reporter: prosecutors say that robert bowers turned a sacred house of worship into hunting ground. now that jury that convicted him on all counts will decide whether or not he gets the death penalty. bowers, a truck driver, convicted on 63 counts that include murder and hate crimes for the 2018 tree of life synagogue shooting. the deadliest anti-semitic attack in america's history. they say that bowers moved methodically through the synagogue armed with an ar-15 rifle. killing 11 congre gants. bowers' attorney admitted in opening statement he shot every person he saw and injured first responders who came to their rescue. prosecutors say in the months leading up to the shooting, bowers posted anti-semitic rants online. the rabbi who testified he helped some congregants escape that day, after yesterday's verdict, the rabbi released this statement saying, i'm grateful for god to getting us to this day. they'll hear evidence whether bowers will get the death p
