americans. this exhibit explores the nature of the american people's relation with american indians, and it's based on premise that most american people, that they have nothing to do with american indians, and that american indians have nothing to do them. and we are arguing that the exact opposite is true. we're arguing that americans and american indians share a deeply history that this the history that shaped the united states of the americas and, that it has had a profound, lasting impact on americans national consciousness and their popular culture. so we're standing in the central, which we call indians everywhere here. and as you can see, this gallery with images of american indians. these are images that at the american have made of american indians. and this imagery pervasive in americans lives. it is so pervasive, in fact, that we call it the white of american lives. most american people aren't even conscious that. everywhere you look in american, you will find imagery of american indi

gave african-americans opportunity, opportunities for all americans to serve together in defense of our great nation. and while the executive order serves as a major milestone, it is joined by the executive order 9980 in a woman's arms act. all three together, signed by president truman, created opportunities for ordinary americans to accomplish the extraordinary. sometimes we may not see the extraordinary, but we can just look around, look in this very room to see what so many have accomplished. we must share the extraordinary stories so the next generation knows what is possible, what can be accomplished with the opportunities in front of them. they don't like to do exactly that, share how we got here, share the stories of americans who, because of this milestone, were able to accomplish extraordinary things. a few days ago, on the anniversary of executive 9981, i had the distinct honor to accept one of the only two remaining stearman training the aircraft that the airmen trained on during world war ii. we were able to do that with a handful of documented original tuskegee airmen. it

americans, african-americans, hispanic americans and lgbtq americans. all of these have been ignored in history books, left out of social studies. these community authors have been silenced, it roared or banned. also on the subject of education, i respect my colleagues. on whom i disses -- on whom i differ on affirmative action. but without a session, these are not insight asian racism. it is recognition the merits of the student so much more extended beyond test scores and grades. many asian americans and asian-pacific americans have benefited from these policies. on affirmative action there is one important thing to recognize. asian americans support affirmative action. but more importantly, affirmative action is not about lowering the bars for admission, rather simple recognition that race still matters in our country. and a student must be able to express their full story, including their story about their own race. any discussion about college admission must be holistic. 20% to 30% of college admission for procedures universities are based on relat
