joining us now is cnn seen ya media analyst at axios, sara fisher.n several different platforms who tried to do what threads is accomplishing now, but they haven't been able to. why do you think threads has been able to achieve this substantial growth in such a short amount of time? >> because it's linked to instagram which has well over a billion users around the world. what they did is they waited until they could figure out how can we launch this product quickly. when they saw that elon musk was limiting the number of tweets people could get, they bumped up the launch, had over a billion people get this message out if you want to sign up for threads, you use your same instagram account and basically overnight this became a success. a huge success by the way, if you think about it, mes ta launched so many copy cat apps in the past few years, many have been shuttered. this one so far i think will stick. >> they're getting good press. i'm sure they feel finally, right, after -- >> for going after a competitor. when does mark zuckerberg get good press

things like technology, especially artificial intelligence, cnn sara fisher joins us live now, and sara, that's the thing that of all the elements here and they're all critical to the negotiations that are ongoing to the extent they are at this point, it's the ai issue, and i think the central nature of it. what exactly are actors concerned about, and how do they want it addressed? >> it's a huge issue, phil, and what the studios are trying to say is that an actor or somebody that's working in the background, thinking about a stunt double, et cetera, could have their image be screened and any time it's used after that, the studio would maintain the name, image, and likeness meaning they could benefit and monetize that person's, you know, image, but the person who is getting actually their image scanned would only get paid for that one day. that's the big sticking point the actors are frustrated about. it's a huge issue because ai is taking over every single industry, not just hollywood, be you the news media, and all sorts of things. in hollywood itself, it's coming at a time where a lo

cnn senior media analyst sara fisher with us as well.ding social media use among kids, you said that, quote, there is no -- we have an epidemic that is no different than opioids. can you explain what you mean by that? >> absolutely. the major social media companies have written their algorithms to intentionally addict children, school-aged children, to their algorithms. this is no different than drug companies that sold opioids and claim that they were not addictive. certainly, the social media companies are doing the exact same thing. >> it's a really interesting argument. i think one of the differences, sara, is the lawsuits against the opioid companies, purdue, pharma, others, mthey can point to deaths. here you're not pointing, largely, to deaths, and i wonder what you think -- given all of the litigation so far against these big social media companies, even up to the supreme court on separate section 230 matters, haven't really proved successful. >> yeah, to your point, section 230 is a law that shields these big tech platforms from
