it's been an issue all over the bay area from petaluma to morgan hills. the skyline barely visible through the yellow and gray clouds, smog and smoke. an official warning sane high temperatures are exacerbating the problem. one woman was out running some errands before the worst of the smog settled in and is taking precautions with her child and because she has another one on the way. >> over the last three days i had smelled smoke and was not sure where was coming from that i heard on the news about the wildfires. >> a lot of the wildfire smoke coming from the north of us. the hot temperatures are certainly not helping things especially in the bay area.>> reporter: they are not pick that's what officials say, a lot of this is smog as well. there is a lot of smog that is exacerbated by the heat and is trapping it in here and causing the air quality to be unhealthy for sensitive groups. along with unhealthy for everyone and parts that we are spiking around the bay area because of the wildfire smoke. the haze and smoke small got so bad that cal fire which co

it was warm in the bay area. ne's eyes were on tropical storm hilary as it is still moving its way north. it lost its title of tropical storm and we are now just seeing the leftovers. it is still tracking to the north at around 29 miles per hour. with max wind gusts close to 30 miles per hour. how did this even happen in california in the first place? we have low pressure guiding it , and then it moved its way to the north. that is the big reason we so record-breaking rain totals in the south. but in the bay we are dealing with widespread showers, too. especially off to the east bay. 5 1/2 inches in areas like east los angeles. about four and half inches in palm springs. las vegas, we were keeping a close eye on it. they only ended up getting about an inch in the downtown areas . let's take it back to the bay area. i want to show you what's going on . if you live in east bay, don't be shocked if you see a light shower or two. what happens, the heat starts to rise in the bay area that will allow for some instabilit

in the south bay. a bicyclist had to be rescued from sanborn county part because fell and broke his leg. the santa clara county fire department showed us these pictures of them responding to the park trail on friday night and they were able to get him to the hospital. >> and here's another rescue in the north bay. sonoma county deputies had to rescue a driver after the car they were in, went crashing down a steep embankment. you can see is a heavily wooded area. deputies say it happened friday afternoon right there between calistoga and santa rosa. they found that driver 100 feet off the roadway and helicopter with the rescue a - crews there repellent down hooking up that driver and hoisting them to safety eventually taking them to the hospital. now, check this out. a small plane crash-landed in a vineyard in sonoma county this weekend. >> it's incredible. the pilot not hurt. it was just before 3.30, saturday afternoon, right near the windsor golf course that that pilot radioed to the santa rosa airport

the >>> on the bay area beat. melessness advocates invited san francisco city hall to the negotiating table to end the year long lawsuit against encampment sweeps but yesterday the city attorney said no to that deal. the coalition on homelessness says the city is violating constitutional rights through brutal policy practices that includes citing and arresting them for sleeping in public when they have no shelter to go to. yesterday advocates outlined settlement terms and asking san francisco officials to prioritize more affordable housing and more temporary shelter. >> our lawsuit is demonstrated that had the city's current street response to homelessness is not only illegal and inhumane, but a tried and failed approach that perpetuates homelessness. >> so the settlement also calls for the city to create new framework for responding to street encampments. >>> in response, the city attorney says if the coalition actually wanted to reach a settlement agreement, this political stunt is certainly not the way to go abo
