so there are postcards you can find from the arizona sonora. i'll probably refer a lot to the arizona sonora border because i'm from tucson and it's the area i know best, though i think a lot of what i about the arizona sonora border can be applied to other border areas as well. so you can see postcards that were popular the late 19th and early 20th century of border well, they weren't really even checkpoints, they were just customs houses to kind of manage the trade between the united states and mexico. in the late 19th century. and you see people just milling about freely back and forth across the line and. in fact, the in the united states and met at the border in the 1880s. we hear a lot about the transition to mental railroads here and all of that. but mexico was also building going north to the border. the united states was building offshoots of the southern pacific railroad that met the mexican railroad at the border. and that was all about the unloading and loading of of goods. this is in the late 19th century. but even later, you know.
