david: i remember hearing about it. congressman tony gonzalez.k marijuana banking bill. ashley is here with the latest. ashley: the so-called cannabis bill is heading to the chamber after banking panel announced it. this legislation is designed to make it easier for banks to serve the marijuana industry in states where the drug is legal. it is now done in cash. 38 states legalized some form of marijuana, but republicans threatening to sink this measure over a set of conditions for businesses like gun sellers or energy or crypto. they say the industries face unfair scrutiny on democrat administrations. democrats also want to expunge cannabis criminal records as part of this bill. it goes to the full chamber. interesting story here. california governor gavin newsom signed a law that will actually double the taxes on guns and ammunition. the federal government claims excise taxes on purchases of firearms and ammunition are at 10% or 11% level. the new law adds 11% excise tax meaning california residents can indirectly pay 22%. %. newsom also signing
