san jose state university says no one affiliated with the school, including students was involved in that stabbing. san jose's former police watchdog was reportedly set to be investigated for arguing with a police officer while drunk at a public event before she abruptly retired. should served as the independent police auditor from late 2018 until this june. she says she had a tense argument with a police officer at the san jose greek festival in early june after she had had a few drinks. a complaint was filed against her and she was going to be investigated. but then she accepted an offer of early retirement from the san jose city council. and she got a period of paid leave. here's new video from what oakland police are calling an attempted homicide. a person was found this morning inside a car that was on fire. it happened about 2.30, at 35th avenue and international boulevard near the fruitvale bart station. firefighters were able to put out the fire and get the victim out of the car. and we're told that person's condition remains critical. but we have no other details right now. w

san jose based tech titan adobe is giving $1 million in grants to san jose state and two other schools. adobe says it's expanding partnerships and they're driven by a goal to support diversity and inclusion. more than a quarter of all san jose state students are latino. the other schools are historically black colleges and universities. san jose state is an adobe creative campus, which means students, faculty and staff have free access to adobe creative cloud. bill on governor newsom's desk would ban schools from suspending students for certain types of behavior. the aclu is urging the governor to sign that bill, citing numbers that appear to show discriminatory practices in school discipline, saying black male students are three times more likely to be suspended for defiance than the statewide average. vincent stewart of the nonprofit group children now says the bill will address those inequities as fences. things like perhaps not having a belt or falling asleep in class. so for those types of offenses, we really think that a suspension or an expulsion is really on the extreme side an
