bring in chris swecker formerly with the fbi. chris, thank you for being here.ost immediate question that comes to mind, last night they secured perimeter around that abandoned subaru by the boat lift. there is fear he has a scanner. what are the odds he's at that area or perhaps in a different state? >> chris: he had a switch car there like a bank robber does, a switch car, and he's within hundreds of miles from the scene or he had something staged there or a plan where he was going to get in a boat or go off into the wilderness there, that rural woodsy area, which is very similar to what we saw with eric rudolph. it is pretty vast. if he has a camp somewhere, prepositioned, which he may have, it will take a long time to get him out of there. it will end badly, i think. if he's in there, they will find him, it will take a longer time. >> kayleigh: we hope not long. i know that community is in great fear and trepidation. talk about what we know about this individual. we do know that he is described as hearing voices. he spent two weeks in a mental health facilit

let's go back to chris swecker. ris, his mental state has been described by multiple people as severely deteriorating. over the last, you know, four or five months. i mean, fast. given that fact, do you believe that this yellow flag law in maine should have been in play. there wasn't an opportunity to remove firearms from his home given the fact that he was in the hospital, mental hospital for two weeks and other threats that he was making? >> i absolutely do. i think this -- paul talked about the yellow flag law. well, the only difference between that and a red flag law is that only a law enforcement authority can file the complaint. well, they can get information from other sources and go get the restraining order or gun repossession order, whatever it is called. i think case when we dissect it later, it's going to be a booming example of a systemic systemicfailure. they have systems. i have done consulting for fort hood for various crimes committed there and suicides and mental health was a big issue. the military

this morning, joining me right now former fbi assistant director being from fbi agent attorney chris swecker give us your reaction >> a morning, what we have a lethal combination of advanced military experience and training along with a mental illness, also someone has what i all kaweapon mass destruction ar-15, scope laser person that knows how to use it so this is -- to manhunt dozens agencies responding trying to get organized takes hours literally hours, multiple locations, and i think deliberate i think planned it this way, to increase the confusion so he could escape. well, let's talk about that because i want to get your take what fbi focused in on in terms of zeroing in on where he is. at this point, do you think he is still in that region? has he left? what are the most important things that that fbi is doing now to find him? >> yeah. i -- i mean they have to do a full workup on him in general his appearances habits, absorb network if you will, i know that he had a found his car remote location probably like a bank robber has what we call a switch car so he can jump into that other

former fbi assistant director chris swecker joins us now.ver the country right now. what should we be doing here at home to defend against these increased reports of threats? >> i think, sandra, we face the greatest threat to the homeland since pre-9-11. we've made ourselves vulnerable, this is self-inflicted. we opened the southern border and nullified all the security measures after 9-11 to protect this country. now we turned our border patrol in to wall march greeters. they're greeting people at the border. as your previous guest pointed out, we have no idea who is coming across those borders. we catch a few, but there's many coming through. we don't know who or what -- who they are or where they came from. we're incredibly vulnerable. we know we have hezbollah cells in the united states. i have that from personal experience. there's other cells -- al-quaida cells in our country here. they want a broader conflict. this is just the first step. they use terrorism to extend and project themselves. i say right now this is a serious threat to
