i found at the connecticut historical society. and i just got very lucky that the top line of the archival listing said, prince pitkin name. okay, so let me get to my last story. on june 17, six, 1777, a condemned rebel spy named abraham patton confessed that he had helped to burn new york city. at first, this document was all i knew, but i since learned, with the help of genealogists, actually that patton was born to a large scots irish presbyterian family that, had moved from pennsylvania to the catawba river valley in the carolinas when he was a child. this was the same region andrew jackson had grown up by the late 1750s. patton was evidently enough to sign his name to back country protestant dissenters petition criticizing the established anglican church, abraham patton's james was a storekeeper who had died in debt in the carolinas and from and from 1763 to 68. abraham patton worked at least for a time as a wheelwright and owned about 100 acres in salisbury township, pennsylvania. he married martha crawford in philadelphia i
