i want to bring in elie honig. elie, what would the fbi have to do in order to get a judge to sign off on a search warrant like this? >> anderson, it's not easy for prosecutors and the fbi to get a search warrant. you have to establish what we call probable cause that a prime was committed and the likelihood that you'll find evidence of that federal crime in whatever it is that you seize. you have to write it out in detail in an affidavit. as a prosecutor, you have to let the judge know exactly what is probable cause. and the judge has to review it and agree there is probable cause. in a case of this magnitude with a subject, such as eric adams, the mayor of the largest city in the united states, this almost certainly would have had to go down to the bosses at the department of justice headquarters for approval as well. a lot of people saw this and signed off. probable cause is a lower standard of proof than prosecutors, of course, would need to convict, which is proof beyond a reasonable doubt. >> elie, to the poi

with me elie honig, kaitlan collins, host of "the source" coming up at 9:00. elie, how important could this source be? >> this is a dream scenario for prosecutors. ordinarily in the federal system, when you're a prosecutor, you build your case on a cooperator, who is now your witness. what happens? the defense lawyers stand up in closing and they say folks, you're going convict my client based on the word of a criminal? and then we prosecutors stand up and say to the jury, look, we'd love to call honest, hard-working people to come in and tell you about a crime, but that type of person inside on the inside of a crime. here they're literally on the inside of a crime. these are honest, hard-working, regular folks, had nothing to do with the crime. even if they can't give the whole story a to z, they can give important details. they saw a box here or there, overheard a conversation. if i'm a prosecutor, this is the best case scenario. >> is it clear what trump world thinks of all this? >> they've kind of known that a lot of these people have been called in to spe

let's get more on eli lilly and the choices in the obesity drug market.joined by the director of research for bloomberg intelligence. what did you make of the announcement from the fbi yesterday? >> the approval was expected. this product has been on the market in some form for diabetes for several years. what was interesting was the pricing, of course. what we have to be careful with is when you see these comments about we will price it at this and that. that is the list price. what happens in terms of rebates is what really matters. alix: it is like machinery orders. sam: so i would expect -- that was interesting because you thought they are coming at 20% discount, but novo nordisk is up yesterday. the problem is, the issue is -- everybody expects the net price to be similar. guy: sam, how long will these committees have pricing power for? sam: oh, i think pharma companies with these massive drugs generally lose pricing power. we estimate that the rebate, the discount on we go v is around 55%. now with these two drugs approved for obesity, the insurance

with us now elie honig, former assistant u.s. attorney for the southern district of new york. also with us former manhattan prosecutor jeremy isa salan. i mentioned there has been some speculation that trump when he gets on the stand will go in there and try to blow things up. by that i mean derail the trial, go after the judge, go after the clerk. the reason being -- and this is a quote from alan dershowitz in a rolling stone article -- he says, quote, when a defendant honestly believes he can't get a fair trial from the judge one of the tactics is to antagonize the judge to the point of causing reversible errors. in other words, go after the judge, taunt the judge, draw the judge into doing something that will hurt the case going forward. >> you normally would never say poke the bear of the judge, that the ramifications could be quite serious, but when you're looking in this situation it's potentially -- potentially a double win for donald trump, and what i mean by that is you have his court of public opinion which we know that's where he's going with regularity, it's a camp

so, this is a big test for the judge, and we're waiting for her ruling. >> elie, as paula just said, this is potentially a big development if the start of this trial is pushed back, possibly until after the presidential election next year. is there a good basis for judge cannon's concerns? >> i think there is. i understand that there's great interest in seeing donald trump tried in as many of these cases as possible before the election, among the public and certainly among prosecutors. however, the judge also has to be aware of and protect any criminal defendant's constitutional rights to due process to fully prepare for trial, and if we look at the calendar, as paula just laid out, the first federal case, the one in d.c. about election subversion, that's starting in march of 2024. and i think judge cannon's concern in florida is, you can't make a criminal defendant go right from one case that's going to take two full months and then immediately start this next case, because we does have a right to prepare separately for each case, which is unrelated to one another. it wouldn't surpr
