attorney for the middle district of georgia, michael moore. michael, thank you for being here. obviously this is all up to the fulton county judge, scott mcafee. does it seem like a reasonable time frame to you to start in august, in a trial in a case that is expansive as this one? >> well, i'm glad to be with you. i will just say, i think it's probably one of the most unreasonable requests that i've seen lately coming from the d.a.'s office in this case. there is a lot of noise around trying to have a case that's not political. i heard the d.a. say that they don't take the politics into play. that's just not reality. and to somehow try to take this case, which they have acknowledged will last some five months or more and the judge thinks maybe eight months, and to pull the republican candidate off the campaign trail or require the sit-in trial, basically rushing his case, compared to other defendants who have been sitting in jail waiting on trials in fulton county. i think it stinks of politics. i'm not saying the public doesn't have a right or an interest in seeing the case d

attorney for the middle district of georgia, michael moore. i know this is a lot of hypotheticals. rstand that, michael. but if that does happen and trump is reelected, which we don't know that he will be, this is a state case. so what happens? >> well, i'm glad to be with you. it is hypothetical in the sense that we are all guessing who's going to have which trial first, whether it's gonna be the federal case or we get to the state case. but if he were reelected and if the case were going on, my guess is that the trial would probably be immediately stopped. because there is a general rule that a president needs to be able to focus on those things that he needs to do as president. and in fact, he can't be bothered with state court actions during the time that he's president the united states. and you've seen that from time to time. you remember some cases that were put on hold while he was president of the united states. so i think that's probably what would happen. but. i think it's an optimistic view to think that would even be getting to the trial by election time in this case. a

attorney michael moore weighed in on who is making the decisions on which cases actually come first. >> it will be sort of a gaggle of judges making their own trial calendars. you have the case in florida scheduled for about the middle of next year. and that is going to block out a lot of time for the calendar. and then state court judge. typically federal cases take priority. so the state case would be in limbo a bit as they are waiting on when that federal trial will go. but you've also got all of these defendants in this rico case in georgia. and i think it is unlikely that the judge tries all these people together. so i think that you will see two waves and it will depend on which one he decides to put first. if trump is in the fhe first wr second wave or potentially a third wave. so the judge is in charge of the courtroom. but again, we'll have issues with appeals courts, we'll have matters that are taken up, it will delay the case as well. >>> and the u.s. house ethics committee is expected to release its findings from an investigation into republican congressman george santos
