i'm grant lotus and i'm noelle bellow. that standoff began after the deputy was shot in the arm while trying to serve an eviction notice in a warehouse district along dow avenue. union city police say. >> after trying and failing for several hours to make contact with whoever was inside. swat teams were sent in. that's when they made the discovery a man and a woman dead from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds. officers say people were living inside the commercial building in deputies serving the eviction notice, followed proper procedure while doing so according to authorities who have not released the identities of the man and woman found dead nor the deputy who was shot in the arm. the deputy was hospitalized overnight, but is expected to survive. another big story we're following. a man convicted of the brutal murder of a child 23 years ago in san francisco. it's set to be parole. but as kron four's, dan kerman tells us the da's office is trying to stop that from happening a san francisco man now serving a 25 year t

i'm grant lotus and i'm noelle bellow. nishita was killed during an attempted robbery back in 2021. while he was out on assignment. >> with one of our reporters, there was a $40,000 reward out for the rest of the 3rd suspect in his death. the search ron gilbert ended tonight in missouri. kron 4 sarah stinson spoke with someone at the u.s. marshals office. she joins us now live in the studio with the latest. sara? >> i spoke with a u.s. marshal in missouri over the phone. he confirmed lower on gilbert was arrested in kansas city just outside of about 20 minutes east. several law enforcement agencies have spent more than 24 hours trying to track him down. the agent tells us investigators in california as the u.s. marshals office to check out several locations in kansas city as they believed he knew people in the area. they've been on the lookout for about a week now around 2.30, on wednesday afternoon. they found him in a car in a parking lot in blue springs, missouri, as i said, just east of kansas city. very close. the agent says gilbert got out of the car and tried to run away. but

i'm grant lotus and i'm noelle bellow. the mountain closed after the avalanche around 9.30 this morning. but there were skiers on the trails at the time. kron 4 sarah stinson. >> joining us live from palisades tahoe tonight with the very latest details, sarah. >> yeah, very sad news up here at palisade tahoe. we have confirmed that a man died skiing while on this chair lift behind me. kt 22, an avalanche struck at the top near here and to the right of that ski lift. and this is a very difficult run for advanced skiers. we know that 3 others got injured. >> but they're ok, take a look. it's been consistently snowing up here. hard to get over the past. this is what it looked like today. the avalanche happened around 9.30, this morning. palisades ski patrol immediately started searching the area with 100 resort workers, community members. people were putting their all into finding anyone who may be stuck under snow from that avalanche and they use rescue technology rescue dog teams. we spoke with the skier who was on the moun
