now it's time for a look at the weather with chris faulkes. hello, there.e of weather around this afternoon. across eastern areas of england, we have a slow—moving weather front, bringing persistent outbreaks of rain. further north—west, we've got heavy showers — some of these will have thunder and hail mixed in, but the rain certainly set in across east anglia, down through southeast england, where it's going to stay, really, through the rest of the day today. so particularly wet weather here. showers in northern ireland aren'tjust going to stay for western counties. they're going to sweep right the way across with hail and thunder in those. also hail and thunder in the showers across western areas of scotland. the day's top temperature ranging from 8 to 12 celsius for most. now, overnight tonight, a new area of low pressure is set to develop with a band of rain starting to push in through the night. ahead of that feature, it will be cold with quite a widespread frost developing across scotland and northern england. and then, as we start off friday morning

here's chris faulkes. nothing as spectacular of that, you would only need one colour to paint a picture today and that is grey. you can see extensive cloud on the satellite picture but there are some breaks in the cloud for north—east and eastern side of the pennines and for these areas you may get some glimpses of sunshine. it is also quite damp with some drizzle in the forecast this afternoon for west scotland, northern ireland and parts of wales. none of the rain particularly heavy and quite a mild day at 12 or 13 degrees. tonight heavier rain moves east across the country clearing from scotland and northern ireland were some blustery showers to follow. very mild across a good part of england and eastern wales with temperatures in double figures over night. tomorrow all change again, some colder air moving in across the vast majority of the uk behind this cold front. the front itself dragging its heels across east anglia and southern england where it will be waning for a good chunk of the day. sunshine
