this one here in burlingame would cost 70 million. been out here to this burlingame crossing multiple times to cover deadly crashes. video that you're seeing is from two serious crashes here just in the last year and a half. the family of a woman who died here in 2021 ended up suing caltrans and the city of burlingame for not making this crossing safer. now, one of the problems is that there are lights on either end of this crossing. so if they aren't timed well, then cars end up stuck between those lights and then they could end up stuck on the tracks as well. so lawmakers will be here this morning to host a press conference. they're calling on the legislature and governor gavin newsom to include funding for these projects in the budget. they say this project will address safety and congestion challenges, including a high number of crashes that happen here. they also say that first responders are often delayed because of the traffic congestion that ends up here. and then obviously, it seems like the lights are one of the big issues.
