why is immigration important to asian american, native hawaiian pacific islanders? because of several reasons. one is one of the largest -- and it may sound surprising -- groups that is can coming over the border that doesn't messily have documentation -- messily have documentation are, in fact, indians and chinese. so this is not just a problem in certain parts of the world, it's across the world. people are looking for legal paths to immigration to this country, and our system is broken. we have a system which right now would require if somebody entered this country and they worked and they had a work visa, it could take 18-20 years. even if they followed the process to a t in order to get immigration status and a green card. and then another five years plus to get citizenship. the bottom line is if you have a system thatt doesn't work and it doesn't promote people following the pathway, then whether they are an asylum seeker or they're looking for economic opportunity, people will choose alternatives that are not desirable. we have to fix that system. if our comm

nihonmachi street fair, a popular festival showcases the traditions of the asian american, native hawaiian and pacific islander communities. lots of different booths offered all kinds of food, 14 different vendors, art by local artists. there were also dance performances and a dog pageant. i've always been a priority for the nihonmachi street fair to bring our communities together, even from the first 1974 street fair, it was really to bring all the not only japantown, but chinatown, the filipino community, and all the communities really come together and work together. and it has become quite popular over those 50 years. organizers estimate 30,000 people came through the fair this weekend. you had me at food, dancing and the dog pageant dog pageant like the perfect combo in the weather was nice. there you go. there's no bad day for a dog pageant. that's true. it doesn't matter if it's foggy like we're seeing right now. yeah, or the sunshine we have inland. our summer microclimates again on full display. a little bit cooler on this sunday afternoon, as we did see inland highs dropping to the upper 80s and low
