mr. garcia for the his five minutes. >> thank you, mr. chairman. i want to thank all of you for your service as a well. i was mayor of long beach before i got to congress, and so i worked with our police department, obviously, very closely. i'm really proud of the men and women that serve in long beach and police departments across the country. i also want to thank them for working in those eight years to focus on also issues that i believe made the long beach police department focus on issues around diversity, around equity, around community policing and other initiatives that already made our police department inclusive of the community. now, we know that law enforcement and keeping people safe shouldn't be a partisan issue. i hope people understand when we talk about supporting the police, we need to follow through on that support in congress through real actions, not just partisan messaging bills. and police officers actually need the tools to do their jobs and the training in technology. they need to make sure that we can hire and recruit tale

mr. garcia. >> thank you to our witnesses. we been talking about the biden/harris record.hink it's important to note we are doing this hearing likely because the debate was such a disaster for donald trump, it was embarrassing to watch, donald trump admitted terminating roe versus wade, attacked reproductive freedoms, wants to kill the affordable care act, and spread miss information about immigrants eating cats and dogs. i want to remind folks we been talking about project 2025, which are witnesses know a lot about in which donald trump said contains many good ideas. it's not just project 2025. donald trump has artie been the president, in fact it's important to review his record. let's start with the fact about donald trump. donald trump first and foremost had the worst jobs presidency since world war ii and maybe american history. the worst jobs record since world war ii and maybe american history, he lost 4. 9 million american jobs, added $4.8 trillion to the debt even without the covid related spending. cities and communities like mine were facing disaster, looking at

garcia: thank you, mr. speaker. mr. speaker, this bill is just another extreme maga political stunt to undermine the safety and soundness of our banks and financial system. rather than focus on economic growth, it pushes extremist policies, stripping away critical environmental, social, and governance initiatives and disclosures. let's be clear, climate risk is financial risk. and diversity is good business. just look at a recent report, top companies grow more when they consider climate risk and embrace diversity inclusion than when they only look at the bottom line. let's make this simple, why do republicans want to take power away from shareholders? why are they doing away with decades of progress and corporate transparency? why do they want less information? this is not an effort to secure economic growth for a nation. it is an effort to deny reality. something that extreme republicans are getting to be good expert at. the speaker pro tempore: the gentlelady's time has expired. the gentlelady's time has expired. ms.
