it's even hot in san francisco. let's get right to first alert chief meteorologist paul heggen with more on what's going on. >> another heat dome taking over. this one will send temperatures soaring closer to the coast as offshore winds will kick in. let's look at the heat advisories and excessive heat warnings that are in effect across the bay area. this remains through wednesday. the orange-shaded areas, including coastal parts of the bay area in san francisco, that's the heat advisory. the purple is the excessive heat warning, which is another category that's even worse. this says where temperatures are likely to top 100 degrees tuesday afternoon and again on wednesday afternoon. we are tracking the heat in place right now which isn't all that bad. we have temperatures in the 70s and 80s and 90s. those are tomorrow's high temperatures. let's talk about the current temperatures, 70s along the coast, san francisco climbing to the low 80s and 90s farther inland. no widespread triple digit temperatures yet. that chan

i mean, if you live in san francisco or, you know, really anything about san francisco, you know that a lot of the buildings here do not have ac yesterday, even by the water yesterday, i lived by the water. it was hot, hot, hot, hot, as you said. so a lot of schools here just don't have ac. or if they do have ac, it's really an old outdated system and that's really all over california that this is happening. it's pretty rare to have working new ac systems. so a lot of schools in california are just unprepared for this kind of heat. if schools do have ac, they're often old and they need some work. so according to the associated press, all or most schools in long beach have no ac affecting 14,000 students than here in oakland. they look there, they said as many as 2000 classrooms do not have ac. a report from uc berkeley and stanford last year says between 15 and 20% of k through 12 public schools have no ac at al, and as many as another 10% need major repairs or replacements for their systems to work adequately. advocates say that that's likely an underestimate as well. a lot of bay ar
