let's talk to entertainment reporter stephanie takyi who's here. mean, this is not everyone's going to quite understand it. they'll see the tragedy of a young man dying at 31, but he is, i mean, to a generation and one direction. we're like the beatles. >> so many people have watched liam payne's rise to fame. you know, people watched him in 2008 where he had that first audition on x factor , where simon cowell on x factor, where simon cowell rejected him and said, come back in two years, which he did. but he said from that first rejection, he was devastated. he didn't think actually he would be able to get a pop career and god, he was wrong because he managed to turn it round once he joined one direction and they had this stratospheric kind of success where they just shot to stardom and to be honest, with one direction, i would say that they've got this heavy fan base who have been quite loyal to them, even since they went their separate ways in 2016. and, you know, his death is really a double edged sword because you're hearing all the traumatic
