but recent outbreaks of e. colift many wondering if the food they are eating is safe. cbs's nikki battiste digs into that story for us. >> reporter: as preparations get underway for the thanksgiving feast, so may be wondering whether carrots are off the table this year. 39 cases of e. coli have been linked to organic whole bags and baby carrots from grimmwy farms. grimmway farms says effective carrots have been recalled. and what is on store shelves now is safe to consume. late last week e. coli was also linked to ground beef sent to restaurants. it may seem like these outbreaks are happening at an alarming rate, but the fda says product recalls are actually down this year compared to last. we wanted to know what consumers can do to stay safe. so we talked with food safety expert bridget hussain. if people are feeling nervous with all of the recalls going into this holiday where we cook, cook, cook, what would you say? >> when we cook things, as long as they are cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees, that
