katie nielsen on what it reveals in the days leading up to his death. >> reporter: this friday is the three year anniversary of the death of 45-year-old maurice monk who died while in custody here at the jail. the previous district attorney reviewed the case. but the current district attorney had her office review the case and she disagreed, charging those staff members with felonies. some of the video you're about to see could be disturbing. >> he's breathing. >> reporter: this is the footage from deputies at the jail as they were tasked for carrying for monk. the father of two was schizophrenic and arrested in october of 2021 after he got into a dispute with a driver after not wearing a mask. that's when his physical health started to decline. >> and what is one thing you should know? >> reporter: based on the body camera video they reviewed, he was lying face down on his bed for three days in the same position. before deputies and medical staff finally went into his cell to check on it, only to find he had already died. >> and he was just left to die in the cell for no reason, for

so our katie nielsen is live in santa rosa with how things have been all day long. braving it with her photographer. hey, katie. >> reporter: hey, juliette. you can see the steady rain coming down with a couple of little breaks that have tapered off a little, coming right back. so this intersection that you're looking at right now is 101 and college avenue. still very heavy rain up here. you know, while flooding is not the biggest concern right now, this is going to be a dangerous storm for drivers. this is some of what drivers around santa rosa were dealing with today after some places got over two inches of rain. >> the curbs and gutters are able to handle the water, but they don't necessarily have anywhere to go to because they're trying to flow into the creeks. when the creeks are up, there is nowhere really for that water to flow, and you start seeing a lot of backups as a result of it. >> reporter: the santa rosa fire department said they're working closely with public works to clear out debris from creeks and streams, as well as the storm drains to keep water
