kron 4 charles clifford reports from san jose. >> the alum rock neighborhood here in east san jose has a lot of character in history. this actually used to be its own little town until the 1950's when it became part of san jose. but in recent years, some parts of the neighborhood, including along alum rock avenue right behind me here become a little rundown. well, there's a new effort underway to revitalize the neighborhood and clean things up. the elm rock business association has secured $100,000 in grant funding from the city of san jose to help revitalize the neighborhood. 50,000 will be used to install banners, dress windows, paint utility boxes and wall murals. 25,000 will be put towards removing blight, graffiti, illegal dumps and old light fixtures currently installed on about 50 treats and the remaining 25,000 will be used to build a gateway structure, welcoming people to the neighborhood. san jose councilmember peter ortiz who represents the area help secure the funding. but this grant is more than dollars and cents. it is a testament to the strength and resilience of our com
